relax people, I was only comparing the stand off style/heavy support of warfare today and the in the future vs the required bayonet, eyeball to eyeball , bunker to bunker style of yesteryear.

Thousands of men got up close and personal with thousands of men trying to kill them....its just generally not like that anymore except in small unit house to house/urban ops

Thats why I pointed out the significance of the photo to help those later generations remember what went down there.

Remember that Star Trek where Spock said: "To hunt a species to extinction is not logical." and the lady said in reply "Who said the human race was logical?"?

Do more research and you will find all Presidents have the marine hold that umbrella in that situation. Stop using Facebook as your source.

That murderer deserved to be shot!!!!

What's bothersome is that the AP presented the photo without context and American media supplied context that it was the South Vietnamese who were terrorizing kids. No one bothered to report that the guy pictured commanded a National Liberation Front death squad which targeted Vietnamese police during the Tet offensive. He is believed to have killed seven policemen and was found not in uniform at the site of mass grave. Dude was an unapologetic monster who was executed for his treason.

All presidents might have had the option to, but not all have exercised that option. If you don't think this is true then find me an example where ALL 43 presidents have had a marine hold an umbrella for them.

I believe the dude being shot in that picture had not just executed South Vietnamese officers but their wives and children as well. He deserved that bullet to the head.

Ok, we can discredit the picture of Reagan since it is not a service member being ordered to hold the umbrella, but rather one of his aids being kind to him. I'd do the same for any old man. Comparing the Bushes to Obama is a weak argument as they are one in the same. That only leaves 40 more presidents for you to prove that they ordered a service member to hold an umbrella for them.

Yes, he commandeered armored vehicles. Commanded a captured officer to tell him how to drive it, and when the officer refused, he killed his entire family in front of him including his 80 year old grandmother and maimed his 10 year old son who, by some miracle, survived. So, let's just say he wasn't exactly a freedom fighter.
