There's a cure for you but it comes with a price. Removing head from arse is minor procedure in most fields.

Not bullshite.

Questions for those that think Doc's are overpaid. We have to carry a $1million/$3million in malpractice insurance MINIMUM, and can be sued for more than that. Doesn't it make sense that our incomes should be substantial due to the risk? Any other high risk investment=high profit. Why should medicine be different. That's not even including the schooling, no income until age 30 minimum, and the financial investment to become one.

How much should doctors make? Think we're overpaid? Don't use us.

Thanks for the info. I see you had the procedure and it failed. Don't blame it on the medical profession.

My brother was an RN in the ER for 7 years and 8 in a cath-lab. Hes a FNP now and theres no doubt in my mind he could be a DR.

A few. Not most. Not even close to a medical degree. Believe what you want. That's a fact.

20-25% seems really high to me. My company has a goal of ~10%. We have about 1000 employees. Obviously they are bringing in a lot more than they are paying out. It's especially frustrating considering it's something you are forced to buy by law. Seems like there should be a cap on their margins for the items that we are forced to purchase.

I definitely agree with this, probably takes the cake. They get paid so much, especially considering they work half the year. The strangest part is that it is a government job that is paid by the state and they are allowed to operate they do with the nepotism. It would be different if the job went to the most qualified candidates but that is not the case.

I'm pretty sure they are government employees, have government benefits. You are correct though that their salaries are mostly paid for by what they charge the boats that they pilot. However, I would still think their check comes from the gubment at the end of the day, could be wrong, I'll ask my friend for sure.

Okay well back to the point, I still think they are the most overpaid employees out there especially when you consider the nepotism. I have met some very smart ones and then I have met some that it is terrifying they have that job. The gravy train will end at one point and they will have to hire like any other business that is commissioned by the governor.

i dont get the correlation between nepotism and being overpaid.

imo, you can blame some of the nepotism in the industry on the coast guard.

I disagree mostly based on how well, in general, the older "non-traditional" applicants I know perform. The Marine, the aerospace engineer, the accountant, the Teach for America (undergrad was in some quasi-education-liberal arts umbrella major), and the RN (after getting denied from med school a handful of times) will all make it through. There's a certain level of intelligence that one needs. I think a lot of doctors kind of scoff at RN's more so for their education level (bachelor's vs doctorate + 3 years of top-tier if not #1 hours and work-intensive post-doctorate training under experienced individuals in, for all intents and purposes of a simple comparison, the same field (healthcare from a medical perspective) and the way they're trained to think rather than how intelligent (the nebulous concept) they are.

You've seen a lot more than me, though. I could very well be very wrong.

Can't believe I didn't think of these fcktards.
You basically have to be born into this or have great mob like ties.
They have next to nothing in oversight. Are pretty much paid more than any other "pilot" in the country.

But don't dare try messing with them or mr politician will get his arse kicked.

$365,000 a year is the bottom in earnings.

Hard to say. Someone's previous job experience has little to do with whether or not they can make it through. Most I've been around (RN's) could not. But there are always exceptions. Intelligence has nothing to do with occupation. I know manual laborers that are smart enough, but have no interest or motivation. I know some dumbass doctors. My point was that an RN or APRN degree is no where near as difficult to obtain and the training is MUCH easier and MUCH less intense and MUCH less standardized and I am a instructor for both NP's and MD's. At least here in Arkansas, the NP training is shite. The students are really limited by the quality of physicians they can find to work with and the amount of exposure they can get. You just can't learn enough in a year or two of online classes you do a few evenings a week and a year of following docs and other NP's around a few days a week. My worst med students are >>>>>>>>than my best NP students. Now those that are willing to learn and work under a good physician that will supervise and train them for the first few years out of school can be better than some docs. Hope that makes some sense. I'm tired as hell and just a little drunk.
