MySpace was a simple and harmless. Never saw a political post. It was just fun.

Then everyone as suddenly too cool to use it and they all went to Facebook.

TikTok is the trendy new thing to hate, but Instagram has wrecked dating for younger millennials and zoomers.

Twitter has wrecked social discourse.

But the more I think about it, the more I think it really just unmasked us and our naive ideas of how people really are. Which in the long run is an improvement, since we can adapt our ideas about humanity around how it truly is.

Most annoying, 100% agree. It drives me nuts when someone sends me a 20 second video consisting of a repost from somewhere else + some vapid broad just staring into the camera making dumb faces. The whole format is AIDS

But I don’t think it’s actually had a major detrimental impact compared to the others

I actually applaud tiktok for the work they’ve done smashing these other platforms. I think the big concern over tiktok isn’t spying but the fear of it being a legit platform that can make money and take away share from the “US companies”.

I like it because I can get instant live access and also choose what I watch. YouTube screwed itself and tiktok can capture that next with longer video times. Also tiktok actually rewards its creators, unlike TD and other platforms.
