Eleanor Parker's disappearance.
There is no way that nobody saw anything. The last 2-3 places she was known to have been were semi-crowded.

Two of them that were relatively close to me.
The first was the kidnapping of Annie Laurie Herrin in Jackson MS. She was my sister's best friend's grandmother. A disgruntled former business partner of Mr Herrin knocked on her door in a nice neighborhood at like 2 in the afternoon. He was driving a van with a rug cleaning sign on it.
When Annie Laurie opened the door, they knocked her down, and rolled her up in the rug that was in the foyer. And then calmly walked out holding the rolled up rug and put it into the van.
Later, she wrote a note that was received in the mail. It said: "They have locked me in a small room in a basement with some bread and some jars of water. Please do what they say."
Mr Herrin paid large sums of money to some ex business partners as demanded by the kidnappers. But her body was never found. They arrested someone and convicted him of extortion. But not kidnapping or murder.
The other was a friend of our family. It was in the late 70s. I was 5 or 6 and this couple had two sons near to my age. The wife shot the husband in the heart, at point blank range. In bed. And blamed it on an intruder.
Her father was best friend's with the Sheriff. They came over and sanitized the scene before the state investigators were called. In a crazy twist, she later had an affair with the state investigator. I've heard from several people that the entire file is missing from the state crime lab.
She later would get drunk in bars and brag about killing her husband. Every year around his birthday and their wedding anniversary she sends out these heartfelt Facebook messages about how much she misses him. Creeps me out.
Must also be weird for her kids. Basically knowing that your mom killed your dad and got away with it.

LE has to know more than they have let on with the evidence they have. My initial thought has always been if the grain facility just down the road was preparing to load a train. They could have trucks from a hundred miles away delivering grain. Truck could park off the side of the road adjacent to the bridge and no one would think anything of it
Logic seems to point at somebody who had a good amount of local knowledge of the area considering the condition of the bridge and potential escape routes. It seems they have tried to key on people who are from or have connections to the area. Could be completely wrong too. On the surface it seems like a crime opportunity gone wrong where the girls tried to flee and perhaps the perp panicked.
It is surprising they haven't released more information at this point. They still haven't even released how the girls were even murdered. That press conference where they revealed the second sketch was bizarre. You could tell they were coached by some criminal profilers trying to get a rise out of someone in particular.
I wouldn't be shocked if they know who did it but don't have the proof.

When I was a kid our next door neighbor was a Judge. He got a divorce and moved out. His ex-wife was murdered a couple of years later with a claw hammer. Everybody thought the judge did it but nothing was ever proven.

The Lake Oconee murders, which are still unsolved, have always baffled me. Elderly couple in an affluent lake community murdered. Still hasn't been solved. There are several podcasts about it.

The murders of Russell and Shirley Dermond occurred in early May 2014. Russell Dermond was found dead on May 6, 2014, in the garage of the house he owned next to Lake Oconee in Putnam County, Georgia. His body had been decapitated when it was found, and his head could not be found in the house. Russell's wife, Shirley Dermond, could not be located in the house either. More than a week later, her body was discovered floating in Lake Oconee, about five miles from her house. She appeared to have died from a blow to her head, and her body had been weighted down with concrete blocks. Her body floated to the surface because it was not sufficiently weighted to keep it underwater. Unlike her husband, she had not been decapitated. At the time of their deaths, Russell was 88 years old and Shirley was 87. As of November 29, 2020, the murders remain unsolved, and Russell's head still had not been found

Very creepy and disgusting, but I don't think it's that difficult to imagine what happened.
How do think it played out? Or do you think she was crazy and somehow did it herself? Possessed?
The video is downright scary. Maybe she was crazy and if one believes in supernatural stuff, def seemed like something spooky was going on.

The disappearance of Asha Degree on Valentine's Day 2000. She was a nine year old who left her home on a cold rainy night and just disappeared. She was said to be afraid the dark so leaving just makes no sense, but she took her backpack and had packed some of her favorite belongings in it. A couple of motorists reported seeing a little girl on the road that night and called the police to report it. One even tried to stop but she ran away. The next day her hair bow and some candy wrappers were found in a shed belong to business along the road where she was last seen. A year later her backpack was found by a road construction crew 26 miles away from her home. They police also found a picture of an unknown child with her belongings. There has been no trace of her since then. I am not doing the case justice, but nothing makes sense. The parents would normally be the first suspects, but so many people reported seeing her that night that it does support that she ran away. The family has fought to find her for years so I don't think it was them. My hurts just hurts thinking about that poor little girl.

Yeah, that one bothers me a lot. Just can't imagine her being out on the highway in that weather so late at night. Strange case indeed.

Boomer, is it just me or does it feel like the case is a lot older than 2014?
