The Morganza Spillway will not be opening on Saturday, as previously reported. The United States Army Corps of Engineers announced this afternoon that the spillway's opening will instead begin on June 6.

I have no clue. I've just read here its purpose is pretty clear which is to ensure course and protection downstream. I interpret that to mean "open for as long as we have to"

People stopped keeping their horses at Farr park because of seepage.
Construction basically halted on those new developments/buildings on the south side of the bridge. Hopefully Spencer Callahan's new building is not affected.

Right. We wouldn't want his crusade against those evil big rigs to be halted. Oh, and he sure can hold a football and toss it up and down. What an athlete! I can't wait until I'm in a slight fender bender so I can have him represent me.
Call 1-800- blah blah blah blah.

Can’t do construction work within a certain distance of the levee when the river is in flood stage. Or something like that.

From Past Experience, no digging is permitted in BR when the river Gauge in New Orleans is 14' or 15' or higher.... will be that way for a while

There are still plenty of boarders out there but they’ve cancelled events. We put on a few shows a year there and haven’t been able to this year.

The chart on the last page of this doc seems like very bad news for future floods. At 1,000,000 CFS, the river stage has risen around 5’ over the last 20 years at Bayou Sara by St Francisville. Wish the chart showed the 2011 flood but it stops in 2010.

How is this Arkansas levee breach and all the shite going on up there going to affect us?
Posted on 6/1/19 at 8:18 pm to Theboot32
Well all that water will get down here eventually

Arkansas River is a very small portion of the MS river flow.

Isn't that where we are expecting our level increase to come from though? All the rain this past week was in the Arkansas river basin

Yeah, there's a LOT of projects all up and down the river that are going to be postponed or canceled because of this. You need permits to perform excavations or pile driving within 1500' of the levee when the river's nice and low. When the water gets high, the Corps starts staying or canceling those permits. 1500 feet from a river levee basically includes every plant between BR and NOLA.

Most of that work has been hold for months but they won't be canceled. These levels tend to lead to more work on the batture side.

It's a small portion of what contributes, but right now it's a pretty significant contributor of volume.
