Eh, in 2011 it turned out to not be so bad when they opened it
Part of that was because it was so dry in the basin a lot of it got absorbed.
Isn't like that these days.
if I remember correctly... in 2011 they also ended up opening less Morganza bays than they thought they would have to
The problem is its already at or near flood stage as it is without the bays being opened. It would be MUCH worse that 2011 if they have to go that route this year.

I’ve seen some people hoping for disaster just because they need the excitement. Most people are just having a general discussion about “what ifs”. No harm in that.

Exactly. This is a discussion board and we're discussing a topic affecting our area. Nothing wrong with that.

Academy just announced an emergency sale all Kayaks at their Krotz Springs store. Now you should be concerned.

I was. But I also brought it from there to here too.

the flooding of homes and businesses inside the Morganza floodway when the spillway was opened in 2011
a lot of possible explanations being thrown out as to why it wasn't as bad as expected back then
and why this time would be different if the Morganza is forced open again

I’m guessing by thread acting like it’s anchored, flood is being overblown.

got another huge snow storm building up for the upper Midwest this weekend... perhaps even blizzard conditions
more snow to melt and come down the river later
