look who is one of the first posters to start spewing nonsense in this thread just to shite on teachers. A Mingo was his NameO.
The nonsense was spewed in the article. I generally don't have problems with teachers and understand they go through a lot of shite, but when there is a teacher claiming he worked 12000+ hours in a year (impossible), I'm going to call it out

I don't understand the hate towards teachers on here. I guess it may stem from the teachers voicing their opinion and viewpoint about Exxon.

What's your yearly salary? I can say with certainty its not because it's impossible if you make above the poverty line and you do

College educated white collar workers work more hours than teachers.
I doubt this. I know I don't and never have. Of all my white collar friends including lawyers, none work more than the teachers I know.

Teachers get 2 weeks off for Christmas, a week for Thanksgiving, Spring Break, MLK day, and summer.
Most white collar workers can have down time at work, posting on TD, take long lunches, when out of the office for business meetings can run an errand or two....stop and have a beer, etc. In general, white collar work is much less stressful than being a teacher.

Again, I don't have a problem with teachers, but when you take their given hours, not the extra, and extrapolate it to 2080, the normal salaried number used, they are making well above the national average for income. They are fairly compensated when everything is scaled. Are there extra hours involved? There could be. Do you have to deal with shite head kids? Yes, but you know that going in so don't bitch about it later.

No there isn’t. There’s a stupid arse OP that guessed at a salary and made up a bunch of shite off of it, and your dumb arse eating it up.
The claim in the OP is ridiculous. He claims after calculating all the hours he's worked he only made $2.68/hr.
Let's just assume he worked every single weekday throughout the year, which we know is far from the truth. That's 261 work days in a year. Now, let's assume he worked 12 hours every single day, which, again, we know is far from the truth. That's 3132 hours worked in a year. At $2.68/hr, that means his salary would have been $8,393.76 for the year. We know that's not even close to being true.

while they may have caused a recent uptick. this board's hatred of teachers has been going on for as long as i've been around.

I have no idea what state you're referring to. But let's just look at Texas... and keep in mind, guys. This chart is for all districts. All positions, including support staff. All levels of pay based upon district which of course would drift between the best ISD's and the lowest. You know, great 6A schools and the lowest 1A. Anyone consider that?
Chime in if you want this insurance... I'm sure you all would loooooove to pay for it.

It's just like anything else on this site, you have to pick a hard line side on everything and make redicilous claims. There's pros and cons of every profession, teaching included. But to act like the guy in the OP is not full of shite and that you don't know a single white collar worker who works harder than a teacher is just bullshite

Hope your wife doesn't see some of these comments. I'm guessing most are trolling.

Its not like complaints about teachers not being paid enough is some new phenomenon. I've heard it for the past 20 years since I was old enough to understand. Current teachers knew they kind of pay they were signing up for before they even stepped foot in their first class as a college freshman.
Posted on 1/24/19 at 1:56 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
Many teachers I knew growing up had second jobs over the summer. Private school teachers making less, by the way.
Forgive me if I don’t 100% sympathize with current teachers.

of course they do have to spend their time dealing with the little shits whose own parents don't want anything to do with.

Absolutely, coaches' stippling divided by hours put in coaching comes out to pennies.

If a teacher is working 10 hours a day, they really need to examine the effectiveness of their classroom time.
Most Americans work 245 days a year. Teachers work an average of 180
The "teachers are underpaid" mantra is a myth.
Now if a district is losing all of its teachers and can't fill classrooms, they certainly need to consider raising pay

haha. she thinks Tigerdroppings is the dumbest thing on the planet besides video games. And if she ever actually decided to use her degree she'd be some of these chumps' boss with her work ethic and ability to think on her feet.

No they don't. They do get a 45 minute planning period but this is spent meeting with other grade level teachers and admin or doing other classroom prep. They never get to leave the school during school time like most white collar workers can. The fact is a teacher is always duty when on campus.

But they are required to be on campus and usually in meetings for time not in class. White collar workers have a much more flexible schedule.
