Noted.
737 has been around for a long time. I suspect this is an issue in older planes.
That said, this shite can't be helping Southwest's bottom line.

doesn't mean he's privy to Boeing's business practices/policies, in fact what he does know is probably just scuttlebutt, off the lip comments made during break times at whatever class he's teaching, then he's turning it around and presenting it to your class as fact, still calling bs

I don't see how vendors can afford to work for Boeing if what he says is true.
agree, and don't believe that they do

I thought the term was typically something like “Jesus bolt”.
As in “It this breaks, you’ll meet him personally.”

737 was for years, may still be, the most produced airliner ever, with the best safety record of all airliners, don't know where they stand now but there are a lot of old 737s still operating, they are constantly inspected for cracks/metal fatigue, etc., and they are expected to be found/repaired over the life of the aircraft. I think this is getting a little more ink because of the Max issue than it actually being a newly discovered safety concern, there's an incredible amount of flex in the wings, around 14' in the jet I fly, there will be cracks from time to time

Are they ever going to put the 737-800 Max back up in the air?
This issue is not with the Max according to the article. It is with the 737NGs that have been flying since 1997.

So, uh, for all of us aviation dummies, any reason to be nervous flying Southwest later this year?

only because of the trashy riff raff you'll be in close proximity to on the plane

Who knows. I keep reading about Engineers being alarmed at the issue. I'm sure some would say no problem, but cracks in the part that holds the wing on would cause some concern for me. I'm sure they'll have everything inspected by then though.
A plane crash caused by this after they publicly acknowledged it would be pretty bad I'd assume.

Part of an engineer's job duties is worrying.

Every plane in their fleet is either a 737NG or 737Max (grounded at the moment) so I will let you draw your own conclusion. I am still planning on flying southwest but I am going to have an extra drink or two at the airport bar before I leave so I will be good and drunk if the wing falls off.

Not always.

Ok Iceman, so give me your rough estimate as to when they’ll be back in the air. I’ll hang up and listen.

This is FAKE NEWS being spread by anti-American AirBus.
You mean the same Airbus that brought jobs to our state?
It's very anti-American to build a big manufacturing plant in an American state.
