Ok, now I get your angle.

IMO, this is just an excuse from a lazy generation. This generation loves to use stats to justify why they're behind in life for some reason. As if it makes you less of a loser.

It's like listing incarseration stats and making it an achievement that you're not a part of that.

Just saw your situation, bro. Prayers and all that crap. You have inspired me in a bunch of ways. Get out of the hospital and go back to your life.

Praying for you as a southern Baptist military contractor.

Yeah that's pretty obvious.

The truth is that it's been a very difficult job market for young graduates for 7 years now, and more 18-34 year olds still live at their parents because of it. Underemployment is a huge problem in that age group and many are dealing with the skyrocketing tuition costs the hard way.

well, the stats paint a pretty bleak picture, and they definitely mean a lot more than your opinion.

Not saying everyone within this age group that lives with their parents is lazy but the ones I do know are lazy as frick

I know plenty of frickups from high school who at least has an apartment they share.

The only people I know that I don't really blame are people who get out of the military and go through school or are learning a trade while living with their parents. Many people simply don't do shite...

There's pretty few acceptable circumstances to still be living with your parents when pushing 30. Can't blame early 20's bc people aren't going to get out of HS and buy a house generally. But most people should be able to get out on their own. A McDonald's employee can afford cheap rent. I'd rather live in a 1 BR apartment than stay with my parents with a whole wing to myself.

I agree that ~30 is much different than 18-24.

My daughters are in their 20s. With HS educations the oldest makes $90k and the 23 yr old makes $40k.

So they strip the day shift?

Yeah, this has traditionally been the view.

I know a few young professionals who lived at home for 1-3 years after school to put a dent in their student loan debt. I think id probably rather do that then have crippling loan debt when I'm 35 with responsibilities.

I just can't accept this as being accurate. I can't think of a single friend I've had in the last 5 years still living at home. I'm 30 for reference

Yeah maybe not in Livingston Parrish, but you'd be surprised in California and New York I bet.

Is this a Yankee thing? I'm 32 and not one of my friends has lived with their parents in the last 10 years at a minimum. One former co-worker lived with his parents between jobs and was very embarrassed about it, as he should be. He got a new job and moved out of his parents' home.

actually it might be.

I live in North Jersey, a half decent rental is gonna cost you $2500 a month. That's just to not live in Newark.

Every girl I know is either living with her boyfriend, one of 8 roommates at an apartment or living at home rent free with parents. I'm actually kinda envious because my friend paid off her 22k in student loans before she bought a house, which she did about 2 months after she got married. My parents were too short sighted for that type of stategic thinking

What are they considering for that $32k?

You kinda hit on something about this loser generation, they expect a much higher standard of living than they can afford. My gf made it through medical school and earned a PhD on far less than a $15/hr "living wage". That meant a pre-paid flip cellphone, no cable TV, no going out to eat (until I came along), a sub-$10k vehicle, etc. She figured out how to live within her means and graduate with zero student debt, it means sacrifice which most of her 20-something peers won't do.

This is exactly what I suggested to my son when he graduated last year. Pay down or completely off, the student loan and then move out.

What the problem is? Free rent. Mommy does laundry. And you can call up bae to have the sex while daddy is at work and mommy is at the grocery store.
