Incredible perspective and strength shown by Monty Williams.

Williams lost his wife in a head on collision when another car crossed the center line. They couple has 5 children.

Bleacher Report

quote:

I want to close with this, and I think it’s the most important thing we need to understand. Everyone is praying for me and my family, which is right, but let us not forget that there were two people in this situation. And that family needs prayer as well, and we have no ill will towards that family. In my house, we have a sign that says, ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.’

We cannot serve the Lord if we don’t have a heart of forgiveness. That family didn’t wake up wanting to hurt my wife. Life is hard. It is very hard, and that was tough, but we hold no ill will toward the Donaldson family. And we, as a group, brothers united in unity, should be praying for that family because they grieve as well. So let’s not lose sight of what’s important.

Was the driver drunk or was it just an accident?

That is pretty amazing. Not sure I could be man enough to be so forgiving 2 weeks later.

I wish New Orleans would've kept him. He finally makes the playoffs, then they fire him and replace him with someone worse.

Not drunk. But she (the other driver) had a dog in her lap and I believe that's what caused her to swerve into oncoming traffic

And that was one of the most amazing euologies I've heard. Monty Williams is a strong strong man

Toxicology report has already been released? I read a couple of days ago that the woman who crossed over into oncoming traffic was going 93mph. Maybe she had a seizure or a stroke or something...

I haven't followed all of that very closely. I just remember there was a dog in her lap and a bunch of people believed that was the cause. There may be more to it. Maybe she was drinking afterall or yeah maybe she had a stroke or something of that nature.

Wasn't she going 90+ in a 45 as well?

Other driver was apparently doing 92 in a 45. With a dog in their lap.

On a four lane street (no center divider or even a turning lane) with a speed limit of 40mph.

Apparently the Donaldson woman was bi-polar, ADD and suffered from social anxiety. What she was doing going over 90 mph is anyone's guess.

ETA: the accident scene diagram I saw showed the location of a 40mph speed limit sign. Maybe it was 45 on the accident side of the intersection.

It'd be inconvenient as hell, but there absolutely should be an age where your driver's license is no longer automatically renewed without some sort of test.

They say to forgive is divine. Definitely a supernatural power that could motivate someone to forgive after this instance.
