I had the exact opposite impression. My words on seeing it in person were "wow, what an easy shot, JFK was a sitting duck". It was a great snipers nest. Everyone I was with agreed. The spacing involved is all much, much closer in real life than it looks in documentaries or the Z film.
The motorcade route was changed in order to go through that very slow-speed 90plus angle turn for exactly that reason.

Any of you ever been to the depository?? That is an extremely difficult shot. Either Oswald was an excellent marksman or got lucky multiple times.
Only once, but it was late November 1963 and it wasn't a museum yet.

Give Mr New Orleans a read. Good insight from an insider in 60s and 70s NO. The author was recently stabbed to death in a drug beef in NO.
He claims Ruby was a faithful Marcello soldier who had "arse cancer" (terminal colon cancer) and knew it was a one way trip, also friendly Dallas PD put Ruby right on Oswald.

I'll give that a read. It's right up my alley.

It wasn't Oswald that made that shot.It was someone from 15ft away from JFK. A high powered rifle at 15ft away could do that. The shot came from the frontnot the rear
My point exactly.

I don't think that the rifle used by Oswald,a mannlicher carcano, had the velocity or ammo needed for a head to explode on impact.
The 6.5mm Italian is an effective deer cartridge up to about 220 yards. 2,300 ft/s, 1,897 ft of energy. It's not the greatest cartridge, but it could definitely blow someone's skull up. It's actually notable for its penetration capability at a distance when compared to contemporary rounds of the same general size.

Mr. Marcello is the kindest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

I did a good bit of research on this a couple of years ago and believe that it was the mafia that did it with the consent and or help of the CIA/FBI. I remember Hoover pretty much okaying it and steering all investigations away from the mob angle. I cant remember the reason for the CIA involvement though, can anyone refresh my memory on that angle?

I inherited one and use it occasionally for doe hunts. It's deadly and leaves a nasty wound. While practicing with it, I decided to shoot a 2-liter bottle filled with water at 75 yards. I hit the bottle just above the label and the bottle literally peeled in to 2 pieces.

There's a lot to be said for the mob. The north end of Boston is super clean and crime-free because it's mob territory. The French Quarter might be similarly improved if there was a strong mob presence there again to protect visitors and local businesses from petty criminals and street thugs.

I used to blindly think there was a huge conspiracy, but after doing some reading on it I really feel that Oswald acted alone.

Kennedy wussed out of the Bay of Pigs, which he had previously green-lighted, at the last second, resulting in its failure. He was supposed to send in air support, but refused right at the crucial time and the invasion force was massacred on the beach. After the Bay of Pigs, the Kennedy government turned on the organization behind it, rolled up their training camps, and basically ostracized them.
From there, the disaffected, already semi-rogue CIA agents associated with the Bay of Pigs, along with their Cuban dissident cadre and the mafia, who had assisted in the organization and facilitation of various aspects of the Bay of Pigs army (remember, the mafia lost their Havana casinos and hated Castro for it), turned on Kennedy. The mafia in particular really had it out for RFK, who was persecuting them even though they'd helped get JFK elected, but they figured it would be in their best interest to cut off the head of the snake. The rogue CIA guys and Cubans went along because Kennedy had betrayed them at the Bay of Pigs.

he was very good to my grandfather (who wasn't an Italian)...

My great great grandfather, Roco Giresi was one of the Italians lynched. Pretty wild story all together. There's a great book about it titled "Who Kill'a Da Chief".

I think you got the G rated version of the story. If your Grandad was Italian and owned a bar in the Quarter he knew Carlos and paid monthly for the protection he got.
Ehh, any Italian doing business in the Quarter back then no doubt knew Marcello and no doubt had some "dealings" with him or his people, but the stuff was not really as overtly sinister as most people think or as is usually portrayed. He generally wasn't going around just collecting "protection money" from everyone and breaking kneecaps if not payed.

My family was heavily in the Italian mob scene in Independence from the 40s on through the 80's , not so much anymore. Their money was made in gambling at bars throughout the parish, bookmaking, prostitution and fencing stolen/high jacked cigs and booze. They were no where close to Marcelo but he was just a call away and got a piece of everything.

Way too many people have died directly tied to that event for it to only be one person. Im not even convinced Oswald even had a weapon on that day.
Watch JFK to 9/11 Everything is a Rich mans trick. It will open the door that Oswald could not have done it alone.
