Montgomery is my hometown and I can safely say it’s a depressing hell hole. Most of my old friends moved back there and I don’t see how they do it. I could never live there again.

Over 500 people shot in Baton Rouge this year. Most lived, many did not. Many more would have died if police hadn’t applied tourniquets.

In BR 1 in 96 was the victim of a violent crime. Per capita this is higher than Chicago and New York and Montgomery Alabama.

Same. It’s like it has an aura and once you live there it’s impossible to get away. I am extremely glad I got away to go to college, my entire family is still there and all they ever do is rant about how bad it is without making moves to leave.

I like St. Louis. They have a decent rail system. So it’s already better than any city in Louisiana

All because of a rail system???

If the Air Force or state capitol ever moved, Montgomery would become a fricking wasteland...

No shite. Guess what? It would kill any other city to remove 75% of the jobs. Give me a break.

No question Montgomery has problems. I know; I live there. But, it's generally small and easy to get around, leading to a much easier pace of living than in Baton Rouge (where you spend all freaking day on the Interstate).

It is bad that the first major exit (South Boulevard) is such a Hell-hole. That influences opinions from outsiders a lot. Well, that and the fact that the public schools are complete trash.

There are some very nice neighborhoods and some really great people.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.
