Anyone who tells you Alexandria is better needs to be put in an insane asylum.
Monroe, while nothing great, is surrounded by BEAUTIFUL bodies of water and has some seafood restaurants that would do well in Baton Rouge and Lafayette -- namely, The Mohawk and Sage. Monroe is within driving distance to almost anywhere -- from Dallas, to Baton Rouge, to Natchez.
Alexandria is the literal definition of "in the middle of nowhere." It is smaller, dirtier, and poorer than Monroe. Tioga and Pineville are excluded.
Also, high school and college sports in Monroe area vs. ALec = a joke.
Monroe has much better looking women, too.

Monroe, by a lot. But neither are good

I was in A-town last weekend and I thought it looked better than ever. Food choices seem to be expanding and downtown looked nice.

Pineville/Tioga are what bring Alex down
How so? All of the affluent friends from that area I ever had were from Tioga and Pineville. So Peabody is a great school? ASH?

Meh. Ok, but Monroe is better.

I'm from Pineville and have family up around Monroe. Would choose Monre area over Alex in terms of the people and the city. Both have good hunting and fishing if you like the outdoors. Alex is closer to salt water fishing and LSU.
