not sure about mongoose, but honey badger can take the cobras venom, it does knock him on his arse, but he recovers, and then goes for the kill.

they are pretty bad arse, but I would be too if I was immune to the venom and had 5 pointy ends.

The resort we stayed in Hawaii had mongooses everywhere. Made me either worried there might be cobras.

I was more tense watching that video than the mongoose ever was.

may be totally off here... but I lived on Maui for the better part of four years. Maui has no snakes. The mongoose was brought in to combat a rat problem. The problem with that: the rats are nocturnal and the mongoose isn't. So now they have a rat and mongoose problem.

To the best of my knowledge, the Hawaiian islands have remained snake-free. I have done a lot of hiking on Maui, and wouldn't have dared to go through some of the brush that I did if snakes were a possibility.

Another problem is that as much as they like eating snakes and rats, their most favoritest food of all is bird eggs even more than they like eating snakes.

Hawaii is fanatical about keeping out invasive species. The most likely snake candidate is the Guam Brown Snake , which is a notorious stowaway on ships and aircraft. It's probably a matter of time before one gets through.

Plural of mongoose is Roger Thomas Clark... LINK, since most of you won't get the reference.
