Thanks to the board for fielding my questions about possible places to live on the Northshore. This time I'm asking about Money Hill in Abita. Can anyone tell me about the pros and cons of living there? Thanks, so much.

I have an a-hole of a friend that lives in Money Hill. I like the place but he’s a real piece of shite.

I would think it would depend on where I worked.

It is a beautiful subdivision, but I wouldn’t live there unless you are retired or work from home. There are very few nearby amenities.

Nice place to live and not far from Mandeville/Covington area. Just ignore my trailer with several pitbulls tied up in yard down 435 as you get close to the subdivision.

I know someone that was stuck in the subdivision for three or four days after Katrina because there was only one road in and out. It took that long to clear all the trees over the road.

beautiful neighborhood and golf course. great bass fishing.

but if you have young kids... you will get real tired real quick of bringing them to and from school/functions/practices etc.

oh. and if you don't have a drinking problem, you will. thats all those nosy frickers do up there.

If you work at the Abita Brewery or in downtown Covington, the commute wouldn't be overbearing. In Mandeville, some traffic issues at the interstate. Would be to far out of the way for me to want to drive to the Southshore every day.

Abita Springs has the brew pub, Mama D's pizza and a cafe for dining out, and a Small grocery store. The Rouse's at Claiborne Hill is your closest supermarket- probably 20-25 minutes away.

You see this on the way to most subdivisions.

Money Hill also has a fairly new nice entrance off 21 now.
