That kid should get a daily award for putting up with his mother.

Too bad her husband, the Childs father no doubt, could not be at the event. Those Brain Surgeons work long hours and he undoubtedly had a surgery he had to perform.

Just watched part of the video. That back row looks like somebody threw a few Oriental Rugs in a wood chipper and they used what came out for extensions.

When did they start with all of these awards? My nephew came stay with me yesterday after his younger brother's award ceremony. Today was his last day of school, they were having his grade's award ceremony and then they were getting out a half of day. Then I heard about other schools have award ceremonies. Awards for what?

I remember in HS there was an academic award ceremony, but it wasn't during the day and it was only for people who got certain awards. Then there was the annual sports award ceremony, but it wasn't this big to do. You had to wear dress clothes, it was in the evening after school. You went, someone gave a small speech, they called each person who won some award, you go get your award, everyone claps, it ended. I'd say maybe 10% of the student body got an award.. And thats rounding up.

I am not sure this fits as an example of helicopter parenting. Seems more like she just made an arse out of herself while embarrassing her kid. The outburst was more for her than the kid.

Yeah, she's not a helicopter parent. Like most black women, she needed little excuse to make a scene in public.

Yep, that’s how it used to be. These days our society is into their “feelings” way too much. Little league baseball, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place got trophies, period. Made me want to try harder. No incentive now with everyone getting a trophy/award…

When people say why don't you want to live in a more diverse society, this is why I dont want to be around this or my kids to be around other kids who are absolutely raised to act like this.

my friends' 4 year old just finished his first year of T-ball, the kid doesn't even know which way to face during the game, he got a trophy and there's a banquet for his team coming up, his 5 year old sister recently "graduated" from some pre-school and they had a big ceremony at a local Marriot last night

And when it comes to baseball, there are travel teams that play in tournaments every weekend for I guess 6-8 weeks.. And each tournament they play in they win rings (obviously not real gold rings), but they way they do the tournaments and the quality of teams, etc if a travel team that plays regionally plays 6-8 weeks, they are more than likely to win at least one tournament. They can get the shite beat out of them in most tournaments, but they will get to one where the 3 other teams are really bad. And they are all excited about getting rings. Why? For being the better of the worst?
