No they will use geofencing technology. That's the main reason it's taking so long. If you are in a parish that allows sports betting you will be able to use it, if not then you're outta luck

I hope so,to keep it off the other boards. Line shifts and teasers are of the utmost interest to degenerates but the rest of us couldn't give less of a frick.

IF you're not, then you'll have to drive XX miles to the next parish over to wager.

I wonder if the apps are going to let you bet on credit like the bookies do?

I’ve been betting on horse racing for 6 months on an App.

This has been allowed since apps were available to bet on horse racing. It applies to the same law that makes betting on horses legal.

But horse racing is considered a sport.

You get a whole other series of commercials once sports betting is legal here. This first round was just a taste.

They’ll soon wield more media power than big pharma.

This website is Louisiana Sports Betting & Sports Report. It has information about mobile sports betting.

quote:

January 20, 2022 — The December 2021 sports betting totals were revealed at the January Louisiana Gaming Control Board meeting. Retail sportsbooks handled $39.5 million, holding 12.1% to generate $4.38 million in revenue.
January 19, 2022 — BetMGM executives confirmed Lousiana sports betting is in their plans, suggesting a Q1 2022 launch is imminent during an earnings call. That would, of course, necessitate regulators approving the launch of online sportsbooks during the quarter.
January 14, 2022 — The FanDuel Sportsbook at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino in Shreveport held its grand opening, according to local media. Reports continue to surface mobile sports betting could start prior to the Super Bowl in February.
January 10, 2022 — Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns chatted with local media to dispel rumors mobile sports betting could launch as soon as this week. Johns said his goal is to launch mobile sports betting in Louisiana ahead of the Feb. 13 Super Bowl.
January 5, 2022 — Boyd Gaming announced its plans for a new Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, LA, which would replace an existing riverboat facility. The new land-based property would include a 47,000-square-foot casino and a FanDuel-branded retail sportsbook.

I know Louisiana Family Forum lobbied for it to not get approved. They present themselves as a group for conservative family values, but they are funded by people who have self interest to have them lobby for or against things that they supposedly support.

Not sure how true this is, but I heard that all of these truck stop casinos were against the sports betting getting approved (since they wouldn't be allowed to get a license to allow sports betting).

If I remember correctly, I think most of the parishes that didn't approve it is in central and north La.
