Considering I just graduated from there, I can sternly tell you they are apolitical, but when things do get politicized it's slanted towards the right.

This is the problem with the line of thought Mitch used. It can be used against all kinds of other things in ridiculous ways.
Fleur-de-lis = slave branding
Jesuits = pre civil war quotes
Krupp = German company who manufactured crane that took down Lee, made WW2 armaments for Nazis
Tulane University = Paul Tulane slaveowner
and on and on.
and finally do we say once a criminal, no parole ever? No one can ever change?
The world is finally digital 1's and 0's. No common ground. Guess I have to look at my friends' family trees now and decide who I have to jettison.

Jesuit nola's long time president, who is also a Jesuit priest, recently wrote a farewell letter upon his transfer.
Whatever your belief is about the school, I suggest you read it. It's one page, and is the best summary of today's social and political culture that I have read/heard. I doubt anyone comes away with a "leftest" impression.

But Landrieu is talking HISTORY. Historically, the Jesuits owned slaves. This automatically means they're offensive to African Americans and have held them back. They need to be called out/removed so the city can heal.
