Anyone else hear this rumor?? Would this sack of shite really be so cowardly to do such a thing?

I wish somebody would buy them from the city and put them up on private land in a prominent location.

I heard they were spreading the rumor that it will happen tomorrow night so that when it doesn't happen, everyone will write it off as a rumor and then they will do it Monday night.

The Battle of Liberty Place monument is pretty obnoxious. I can understand how it pisses people off, but it doesn't bother me. But on the other hand, I'm not losing any sleep over it, either.
Jefferson Davis? He was President of the Confederacy ... BAD!!! But he was also a US Senator, Secretary of War and a bunch of other shite. He was incarcerated after the Civil War, but never tried for treason because the government didn't want to try to argue the legality/illegality of secession in federal court.
Lee and Beauregard were no where near as racist as some other prominent leaders of their time, including Abraham Lincoln. It's a shame that these two men who made an effort to reconstruct the country are now denegrated by people with only a minimal understanding of our history.

Well would you feel the same way if they wanted to remove a significant piece of history wherever you call home, for no other reason than to appease a handful of folks who have nothing else better to do than complain about such frivolity. This is all too great theater for ole Mitch as he is able to get the public to focus on this while roads are crumbling and crime runs rampant. He is an ineffective moron on those issues, so instead he chooses to chase these fabricated boogeymen so it can make it seem like he actually does something with his time.

I live in uptown and honestly don't give a frick about these statues. I couldn't tell you the last time I thought about these statues before the topic came up.

Only a tiny percentage wants them up, and most of those don't pay a dime in property taxes to the city.
