I never really heard much of him, then when Sirius brought the channel raw dog comedy out, i started to hear his comedy, and the guy was good.
He could tell a joke, even a dirty joke with out having to be vulgar, use curse words, etc.
Fred Sanford was very similar, Fred could tell an hours worth of dirty jokes, and not use any curse words, and the stuff was funny.
Saying dick and pussy isn't always the way to laughs.

I love sandwiches. Sandwiches are easy to eat, but I hate sandwiches at New York delis; too much frickin' meat on the sandwich. It's like a cow with a cracker on either side. Walk in, order a pastrami sandwich. "Alright, anything else?" "Yeah, a loaf of bread and some other people!" "What kinda bread?" "Rye. No, frick, banana. You got banana bread back there?" "What kinda cheese?" "Cottage." "Get the frick out! I'm not makin' a banana bread, pastrami, cottage cheese sandwich! That would severely ruin my reputation!"

So back around Christmas, the building next to where I work had an issue with the up escalator. Cordoned it off and had an out of order sign. I posted a pic of it on social media and said something like Mitch Hedberg is rolling over in his grave. Only a couple of people got it.

Mitch Hedberg's brand of Comedy was really funny. Unfortunately with most great comedians who don't live all that long, their lasting material is limited. Once you've heard enough it's not really all that funny anymore.

I use this all the time. So simple, yet hilarious.

WTF? Not sure which routines you've seen but he could be nasty.Maybe your thinking of the comedian Lemont or Aunt Ester.

Hedberg was funny but he wasn’t all that revolutionary. He basically trod the same ground Steven Wright already had, albeit with his own unique delivery.
And his material hasn’t aged well in the Internet age. Everybody now can take a cute or goofy photo, create a meme and you have something very similar to a Hedberg-ism.
ETA: damned autocorrect

Every revolutionary thing gets copied.
Anybody can make a car today, but that doesn't mean Henry Ford and the Model T weren't revolutionary. Judging everything in the past by what is currently in vogue is asinine.

If Wright’s the king then Hedberg’s the prince with Seinfeld as the Ambassador and Demitri Martin as the far off Duke.
Hedberg’s style was unique and he’s material is classic and defining. I can’t really take anything away from him and I don’t see who can.
