Events here in FL are ramping up the health requirements in order to participate in response to this. If not canceling.

So someone is actually gonna read that health certificate I have to get for my horse to travel into the state of Florida?

Well, besides that livestock agent in Pensacola?

I just read that they also postponed The 2025 National Black Rodeo Finals, which was scheduled for this weekend at Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City.

Due to horse herpes outbreak in Waco, moved to January 10, 2026. LINK

I am afraid to ask what they do with the horses at the Mississippi rodeo.

I saw where a Breakaway participant lost her horse. Just a sad situation. Some of these horses are hundreds of thousands dollars. Nevada put in a 14 day quarantine, and with the NFR starting within 2 weeks some timed event participants will have to start the NFR on horses they’ve never rode in competition.

Serious health risk if you are a horse owner.
