I think it's up to the DA on what he wants to go after, either life in prison or death penalty.

Redandright did you know the Barrilleauxs or Bourgeois from jeanerette?

. Maybe she's cooperating right now as well.
Either that or watching her hoping she leads to the others or if she panics and leads them to the victim

You bet! Grew up with them. They're probably helping with the search right now. Farmers, hunters, fishermen.
The best!
I gotta stay anonymous.
Witness Protection.

I know.
And if he want's to be re-elected he'll go for the death penalty.
Having had a close relative who tried hundreds of murder cases for the Parish I know how it works.
I'm more worried about the people posting on FB about the alleged perps.
Defense could ask for change of venue and would have a good case.

The DA will do whatever the family wants him to do, I've been in this exact situation before and the family didn't want to pursue the death penalty so the guy is rotting in Angola for the rest of his life.

Do you happen to live close to your cousin's house?
I heard that the suspected perp broke off from his usual routine the day of the disappearance. Specifically, he took a different route leaving your cousin's house than he always does.
Also, I heard that the basket that was on your cousin'a bike was found behind the perp's house.
ETA: this is most likely 2nd to 4th hand info and is suspect at best. I was looking for the OP to clarify if possible. That's the only reason it was posted.

Did the suspect frequent Mr. Poche's house? This sounds like it is from a witness. It is too early to have tracked anybody with cell towers yet.
Did the witness see the white Jeep Commander there?

So is the suspect someone other than the crackhead and the woman that was cleaning the blood now, or did the victim hang out with the crackhead everyday?
I'm confused by your post.

I would be very surprised if Howard Poche hung out with any crackheads.
I can't imagine what they thought they could get from him. He was of very modest means. I don't think he ever owned an automobile in his life. Maybe these losers were cruising, and saw his light on as he was getting ready for 8:00 mass Sunday morning. I do know that he would unlock the Church, so I'm sure he was probably up early.
Maybe they thought they could get a TV or a toaster or a Microwave they could trade for crack. I would imagine his only income was from SS.
He always worked, whether at the local theatre, the auto supply store, the little "business supply store", shining shoes, driving a cab, etc.
He never asked for anything from anyone.
The town has taken this very personally.

So they went to bring the woman in for questioning and she was no where to be found. An anonymous too led them to her, hiding in an abandoned house down the street. Then they found the basket to Howard's bike behind that house she was hiding in...
