Those officers and detectives should be fired. What a joke Jeanerette is. They're more worried about writing speeding tickets and being a crooked police dept than finding a missing person.

Why don't we wait to find out exactly what happened. I've spoken to one of the first people-no, not a cop, on the scene and he was told that the garbage barrel was missing.

That is why there were searches every day looking for him. The belief was that he was put in the barrel and hidden. Jeanerette has garbage pick up once a week, and the barrels are about 4 feet tall, and much wider than what I have living in a city.
The Chief of Police is a good man, with a woefully underfunded department. That's why he immediately turned the investigation over to the IPSO, they have more resources.
I don't know if they'll ever prove that the barrel was moved and then replaced, but I grew up there, I know the street and the surrounding area, and it's more than possible that the barrel was moved, and then returned.

ETA>>>> I would take anything Sheriff Ackal is saying about JPD with a grain of salt.

Also, another arrest. This guy lived down the street, and across the tracks from Howard. Nobody seems to know who he is. I don't even think he's from Jeanerette. LINK
These small towns are being overrun with drug dealers.

I don't know anything aboutJeanerette, but I can vouch that my small town has a lot of sketchy people roaming around that look like they're not from here. I don't know where they're coming from.

The woman is originally from Lake Charles, the Marks guy is from Jeanerette, and the Rogers guy is from New Iberia.

These small towns seem to be a magnet for these folks. They are usually poor towns, so much of the tax base has had to move to follow the jobs, and law enforcement is underfunded.

I'm really hopeful that something can be done- maybe joint Parish pooling of resources. These people are predators preying on the most vulnerable.

One story that I read recently said she was his cleaning lady? I hadn't heard that before...seems pretty odd and could have been I a misprint. I know she was the one found cleaning blood, but to say she was his cleaning lady is confusing.

Red--when did you grow up in J-town? Did you go to HS there or at one of the private schools?

No, that's just what she told the cops. Though I can't say for sure. If you've seen the picture of his house you can see he was of very modest means. He didn't even own a car.

I went to the Catholic School which has now closed. When I was growing up it was a busy little town. But so many have had to leave to follow the jobs just like in most small towns in America.

I really hope that we can do something on a multi-parish level where we can sweep these low lifes out.
In a big city those types are "ghettoized", but in small towns they are just a stone's throw away. It's really a shame, there are so many beautiful old homes there and still some very good folks there black and white, who have taken this all very personally.

Have you checked out his go fund me. They've raised almost 7k in 2 days.

Very glad to hear of this...I hope everyone who was connected burns for this. I have relatives from Jeanerette and hate that it has become such a shithole. Used to be a nice place to visit when I was a child.
