I had heard that but didn't know if it was confirmed or anything. So does that essentially keep a line on you tracking where you've been? As in it's more information than just simple location sharing on an iphone where you only see present location?
The app is "Life 360" and the free version does show your "trail' and your top speed as well as storing maps of recent trips for review.

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but have they called the searches off since discovering the body?

There are cameras that can easily do this. Just about every main road that leads into and out of Lafourche Parish has a camera that records license plate numbers. They are not used to issue tickets and are there to track the direction of travel of vehicles involved in a crime.
If you ever cross the Hwy 90 bridge in Des Allemands, notice the cameras on the median leaving and entering Lafourche Parish. Just one example. Cameras like this should be installed on major highways throughtout the state.
