I’m not even going to make unrelated jokes. Not the thread for it.

The last I saw was that a cadaver dog alerted twice in the same spot of the river, but conditions were too dangerous for divers. They were going to use sonar today.

I thought I saw last night the divers were going back out at like 8am today. But haven’t heard/seen updates today.

I haven’t followed a thread like this in ages.

dumb question but how do the divers operate with the Miss river? I'm assuming very carefully but are they tethered to something ?

It might be dumb, but I’ve wondered that before too. I guess a tether is the only possible way but that would be hard as shite to do. I assume the divers really only go in the outer edges and the current isn’t all that bad there. They really only have to work around structures such as trees or piers as that’s the only places where a body could get snagged.

That would be a horrific job even in the best conditions. I honestly don’t know how people can do that. I guess that derive satisfaction from knowing they are bringing some semblance of peace to a grieving family, but they are pretty admirable for doing that job.

Yea tethered is about the only way I could see them doing it. The visibility has to be shite too.

They wear weights and are tethered.

They use divers to clean barges. I knew a dude who did this.

ahh intersting to know. never really thought about it, but it definitely has to be done in situations like this, or boat maintenance I'm sure. Admirable job definitely. And yes, I bet you can't see anything. That guy on youtube who is a diver and looks for old missing persons cases under water with sonar and then dives with a go pro can often barely see a foot away in lakes and smaller rivers, I'd imagine the Miss is a whole other level of murky.

With all the cameras and traffic on the bridge - if she jumped, someone would’ve seen it, right?

I don't know about what time it stopped on the bridge but I think they said the accident with her abandoned car occurred around 1AM on April 7

Yes it’s very common to use divers or ROV to clean ships

First off he said “clean barges”

But

okay. I’m sure you know more than I do.

Divers are used to do inspections or remove rope out of propellors.

Divers don’t clean the hulls. Vessels are normally dry docked when they want to be cleaned.
