Even if BRPD had the ability to do this why would they?
I am with you on this. I can think of no reason that the BRPD would do this in the case of a man from Livingston parish that was found dead in Ascension parish.
Jurisdictions and whatnot

A lot of questions still left, I know they say OD but stuff doesn't add up somewhat.
Yes it does.

OK, smartass... whichever PD has jurisdiction in the case. Why would they waste money and resources to track the cellphone of a drug addict that died of an OD?

Everyone please understand that CSI: Ascension is not a thing.

They won't. He saw the forensic files episode where a KILLER was tracked down like this when with a burner phone because they got him on video buying the phone. Most of us notice the difference between these two cases.

Deputies were called shortly before 8 a.m. Monday to the parking lot of the Lowe’s Home Improvement store on Airline Highway where they found Kristopher Stevens slumped over in his vehicle in the parking lot, Wiley said in a news release.
The poster that said a white van probably mistook the Escape for an actual van. I don't think we have quite the mystery here that some of you are creating.

Situational ethics. If his mom is a trailer dwelling poor, (I do not know her financial status) it would be ignored.
If it was Paris Hilton, it would be investigated until whoever sold her the drugs had his fart count. per hour, blared on CNN.

I don't watch Forensic Files... but from my TV viewing experiences I would bet these guys could solve the mystery.

Why would Paris Hilton be in Gonzales doing drugs in the Lowe's parking lot?

there's no great mystery to solve here.
Lowes surveillance system will give them a timeline....The leading up to it, probably will not matter

Shame on you Terd. Make sure your wife don't watch it or she'll plot your death.
There was an episode tho with burner phone. Dude was trying to be slick to cover tracks. but to answer earlier question, Yes a burner can be tracked. But the name associated with it is usually bogus/useless. This killer was found on store video buying the phone(tied him to the #).

I've seen something like that... one of those documentaries about killers or something. They somehow figured out which store sold the phone and then it was a matter of going through store records to figure out when those phones were sold during a certain date range. Then they had to look at video footage for each purchase to narrow it down.
I'm sure the local police dept is already on it.

See you were watching FF and didn't even know it.

Some of those crimes/stories cross over to other TV shows as well. But that's likely same story.
Unfortunately, unless someone was with the victim in an OD AND the were likely participating in administering the fatal dose, the investigation ends right there. We had a pizza maker OD not but 2 miles from that Lowes just a few months ago. He was with a 'friend' who bolted b/c he knew something was wrong. They still didn't investigate much.
Sad shite what that heroin does to families, not just the addict.

Yep it sure is and Drugs do nit discriminate. Prayers sent to his family. The young man is now out of all his pain that addiction brings. .

And almost all of them start with pain meds.

I personally wouldn't be shocked if this happened.

Pills are the devils drug. They are legal, companies and doctors are making billions of dollars on them. Meanwhile cops are busting college kids for smoking weed.
I'd wager this guy had a pill addiction before he ever touched Heroin. Prayers to the family and all of you who ever touch that stuff.

Heroin now often being cut with Fentanyl. Extremely dangerous, since Fentanyl is 100 times more potent than Morphine. Not a good mix at all.
