Miserable week I'm having

I came off antidepressants. The side effects of low libido weren't worth it. I weaned from 15 mg generic lexapro to 10 mg for 3 days then 5 mg for 6 days and am on day 4 of 0 mg. I got the flu a week ago and am still real sick. I'm not sure if that's because coming off the meds or other people in the office were sick. My sleep schedule is completely backwards. I'm falling asleep 8 AM and waking up at 4-5 pm. Not to mention having to deal with insurance headaches from the office visit. I'm on the phone with insurance and will just lose all focus and find I can't really get anything done with it and just hangup.

One thing at a time. The insurance battle can wait so make that wait.
Do not sit and sulk. Go for a walk in the park. Make a good homemade soup. Do things that are positive.

Stay active. I know it's easier said than done but it helped. The hardest part was getting started because all I wanted to do was sit around the house and sulk. Once I knew it made me feel better it got easier.

I ran out of my antidepressants over Thanksgiving once. By day 3, I had the sweats, nightmares, and was too dizzy to drive anywhere. The tension headaches were nuts. I was legit wondering if I was going to die. I was crying. All I could do was lay down, but I risked nightmares if I fell asleep.
Those were some long days.

It will get better.
It’s either the flu and it will resolve itself or it’s SSRI withdrawal and it will resolve itself.
Have your physician start you on Wellbutrin XL. It does not have the sexual side effects that the SSRI class has.

What did your doctor say when you told him/her that you were going to go off their prescribed treatment plan and taper off the meds? What alternative meds with less impact on your libido did they suggest?
What did your doctor say when you told him/her about your recent experiences?
Ignore the insurance for now if you can and get back on a treatment plan. Things will get better - focus on that.

That’s a quick weaning. When I got off of lexapro I was on just 5mg and I did 2-3 weeks of 2.5 before I went to zero. And I had brain zaps for about a week when I quit

I just had a flashback to when I was a kid in an old country barbershop surrounded by primarily WWII and Korean War vets. I then imagined op walking in, sitting down,and go to complaining about weaning off his antidepressants, dealing with the flu, and the struggle with his weird sleeping habits. I laughed out loud. The times, they really are a changin'.

One thing at a time baw. Don't think about all your bullshite, just accomplish one thing and move forward. Don't think about the timelines, don't think about how many things you have to do. You'll be on the upswing before you know it.
