I’m not shaming the morbidly obese who need to lose 100 lbs just to walk up the street without having a heart attack.

The problem is too many soft people take hard truths to be "shaming." they prefer you lie and pussy foot around the problem.

Telling obese people the truth isn't shaming.

@ the pretentious gym guys mad that people lose weight differently than them….yet there are 20 page threads about peptides on this board somewhere.

Im not taking this one, but I have been taking a different shot that’s on the market and I honestly have to stop taking it because I’ve lost TOO MUCH weight and too many inches (40 lbs and 4” @ the waist) with little to no side effects in about 6-7 months. I just don’t eat as much. That’s what these shots do. I guess I can go post in the 500 page “PUT DA FORK DOWN” thread on the fitness board or does that not count there either?

Posters whine because people are fat. Fat people lose weight, but not the way posters want them to and continue to whine that they’re no longer overweight, but didn’t do it the conventional/their way.
Congrats on your success. I'm not really interested in the argument over the virtues of the shot vs. the gym but I am curious about what happens when you stop taking the shot. Or is this something you take forever?

It's amazing how many people refuse treat overeating as a terrible addiction, just like nicotine or alcohol. It's just as hard to quit for these people.

i've realized this is a huge part of it and find it pretty strange that it's hardly ever discussed.

people aren't fat because of genetics. they're addicted to eating garbage like a crack addict is addicted to smoking crack. most very large people have emotional problems similar to an addict.

You don’t think doctors are telling these patients how they’re destroying their bodies? You need to live under a rock to not know that obesity is basically the precursor to the majority of major diseases and cancers that are killing our society. Obesity is being glorified on the covers of magazine, claiming body positivity. And then on the other end of the spectrum you have vain insta thots, housewives of bravo, Kardashians who were all about their curves but now thinner than ever before out of nowhere… even though they’ve always showcased themselves dieting and working out.

This is what I’m sick of—our culture just sucks. No one wants to do the real work to simply be healthy. Why? Because it isn’t quick, glamorous and easy. They want to have snatched waists with ginormous asses because it’s what’s en vogue. Now that the purveyors of that fad have gone medically anorexic, the pursuit of that look will take over the masses and full pendulum swing back to horrific yo yo dieting or people taking a shot to make themselves avoid hunger which will lead to hosts of unwanted side effects, the least of which will be gaining the weight back and continuing on with screwed up eating habits leading to obesity for the rest of their lives.

I will continue to judge this method as it is people trying to achieve the result without the honest pain that comes with the work.

I think it could jump start those with behavioral issues that prevent them from self discipline, but again the weight will rebound at some point if you do not change behaviors.

You don't have to join a gym, just play basketball, swim, walk,

eta: this is some next level denial. you're a fat lazy frick, dude. it's not a huge deal. most people are now.

Honestly, I’m not saying tell someone to go kill themselves because they’re fat. But they need to be made aware that the shitty choices they make with their nutrition are no better than the shitty choices a heroin addict makes when shooting up. It’s all an addiction and it all has enormous health consequences. Our culture does need to be shamed. It is astounding how soft we are to believe that some people don’t need to be told point blank that their 45 inch waists aren’t sexy, they’re a death wish.

I have never said or implied such a thing, I asked what you thought about people using chemicals, drugs, supplements etc to improve and compliment their routine to improve body image, ability To concentrate, or to clear their skin of blemishes?

I prefer using natural means (exercising, diet, etc) to rectify issues that don’t require taking pills. I fully agree with the piccolo player’s response in this thread.

There was another weight loss miracle drug in the 1990’s-fen-phen.I knew several nurses on it.At least one I know developed valvular heart disease.

I don’t trust new drugs,is why I wouldn’t take the Covid vax.Vioxx and Bextra turned out to be a disaster for quite a few.

It’s actually a shot people are giving themselves in their stomachs. I was at a mom’s night last year where a couple gals were discussing it and what a miracle it has been to help them lose some of their baby weight. One said she couldn’t afford it and the other said she would give her some of her extra shots. They’re both my friends and they both eat like crap and ironically have the resources (wealthy husbands) to get a trainer, a nutritionist, and probably to have their meals prepared for them by a service. They just don’t.

:sigh:

I was talking about your friends. Not the obese people.

My point was instead of shaming your friends for taking the "easy way", show them how 40% of their weight loss is from lean mass.

Then show them how much lean mass degenerates as we age and how difficult it is to maintain that lean mass, much less gain lean mass as we age.

Then show them how important lean mass is to overall health for people 40+

Don't screech at them about "the right way". Show them how they are negatively affecting their bodies.

My old roommate at lsu took something like that. Her mom sent her to the Aspen clinic after she gained her freshmen weight—along with her roommate (me!!)

She would eat like one big salad per day and play dance dance revolution for 2-3 hours a night. She dropped the weight and then some, then won her pageant not too long after.

Spoiler alert: she gained it all back and then some. Hopefully she doesn’t have long term health issues from the drugs but it always made me sad that her mom was not only ok with putting her on that stuff, but was the primary driver behind it.

Shame fat people.

I'm not into shaming fat people trying to lose weight.

Even if its the "easy way".

Telling them to show restraint just shows your ignorance.

Giving up cigarettes after 15 years was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, no patch, no gum, just the decision to put them down and never pick them up. If that makes me ignorant to addictions in your view, so be it.

My apologies to anyone who felt shite upon, but taking pills for problems like obesity treats only the symptoms, not the root cause, and that’s why it almost always fails, or worse, causes medical issues from the side effects days, months, are years later.

But you do you, I’m not going to call you ignorant for going for more donuts.

I see both sides and no doubt some people are on the shot that don't really need it. But if it helps fat people lose weight that has so many benefits on our entire healthcare system. I think it's a net positive.
