No one will give a shite about an mip on your record. Just pay the fine and move on

Might have been less. It was 4 years ago. I just remember I had to go probably 4 times to finish.

Nope. Don't waste the time, money, and effort. Just pay the fine. Back in the early 2000s, it was like $125. You think anyone really gives a frick if you have an MIP on your record?

They will if he ever wants to sit for the bar exam or go to med school. Passing up a chance for a clean record for $500 (minus the fine) is dumb.

actually, if you are a commercial pilot you would have to report it to the FAA as an alcohol related offense

F that just pay the fine. Its an MIP, not a hit and run or DUI.

No one is going to care you got caught with a natty at 19.

If he's really concerned about it, spend the money on a lawyer. They will most likely be able to get it dismissed.

That people think the law isn't the problem here is laughable. At this point the only reason the law is still on the books is because of questionable transportation dollars, and b/c of dollars from BS crimes like MIP. No reason why voting and draft eligible age adults at 18 can't drink.

bullshite. Being forthright about having an MIP (or two) is WAY more important to the Committee on Bar Admissions than whether or not it is on your record. You have to report expunged arrests anyway.

1) Did you tell NCBE about all three? I admitted to one and they made me get the original disposition from the judge & answer all kinds of shite about it. And 2) Was it recently? The La. Supreme Court really cares about alcohol now; a friend of mine couldn't drink for 5 years after being admitted because of a DWI and a public intox charge. He had to attend meetings and take piss tests. That said, plenty of law grads have DWIs and nothing happens, but if there's a pattern then you could have a problem.

I know for NY during character and fitness for the NY bar, you have to list all offenses you have ever been charged with, even if they were dismissed or you were acquitted.

I told them about everything, even things that were dismissed before arraignment.

Admitted in 2011.

Had a friend get a DUI while in law school and he still graduated and passed the bar.

Got one during football season. Plead article 894 in court (or whatever it's called). Payed $50 and court cost. Six month unsupervised probation. Goes off my record after a hearing at the end of the six months.
Whatever you do, don't take that pre trial bull crap. Straight money grab.
