That means even the average hourly worker who earns $18.22 per hour cannot afford rent
Ok. I’m about to risk it all by doing math on the OT
$18.22 x 160 = $2,519.20 a month
$2,519.20 x .3 = $874.55 rent allowance
I know in big cities that’s not feasible but in 90% of the country, that’s plenty enough to rent an apartment.

check unemployment numbers dude. 11% very bad.
You one of those people that think Trump is to blame for that number?

It’s almost like they think they should buy everything they see on Instagram BEFORE paying rent

So people over reacting is his fault? Adults being required to be told to wash their hands and stay home if sick is his fault? gtfo

And more than enough to rent a room from a homeowner in all but NYC, SF, etc.

he started encouraging the shutdowns dude. he should have never caved to fauci. biggest mistake of his life

So when he does what the public is screaming for AND a medical advisor does it he’s to blame but he’s also to blame for calling the hysteria a hoax after sane people realized the over reaction. You people are just not happy and choose to not be happy but can’t look in the mirror.

When I was in my first apartment in 1985, my apartment was $290 per month.
Minimum wage was $3.35 and hour. That's $536 gross per month if you manage to get 40 hours every week.
So, um, this shite isn't news. You aren't SUPPOSED to be trying to support yourself ALONE on minimum wage.

Has there ever been a time in history that minimum wage earners were in any better shape concerning apartment rent?

Yeah when they were mostly kids still living at home or post high school and didn’t have kids already
Posted on 7/16/20 at 6:11 pm to Hoops
Adult kids still living at home is the highest percentage ever

Sad but true. They got new cell phones and useless college degrees to pay for though!

You can absolutely like off 18 an hour in an city I've lived in. That is horse shite. Called being smart with your money. When I was in college I lived off 12 an hour and survived without parents paying for any part but first and last on my apartment when I moved in.
You may not be able to live in NY or Cali on 18 an hour. You certainly can in Florida.

This is accurate for that time. Of course that was a “nicer” student apartment, but suffice to say that minimum wage has always provided the means to not starve to death, but not to live in any self-sufficient manner.
