I got an MBA from Millsaps. I was working at the time so I needed a program in Jackson where I could go at night after work.
About a third of the students in the program were very engaged. About a third were just there because their employer was paying for it. The other third had no business being there at all. I can say about the same thing with the professors.
The school needs 1100 full time students to be financially viable. It hasn't had more than 800 in 20 years. It has about 650 currently. Only about 160 freshmen enrolled and maybe 120-130 will be back for the spring.
They're eventually going to sell the school to the Univ Medical Center. And use it as a training school for skilled nursing and OT and PT type programs. Something along those lines.
It will not survive as an independent liberal arts school. They have been very open about this with the community.

Exactly!
That's why I don't get paying private school costs. Makes no sense.
I had Ivy offers but no scholarship (ivy league gives zero athletic aid) and parents made too much for need based. For a STEM field likely wouldn't have made a difference.

My son had a full ride there but chose to pay at LSU. It was very liberal.

Was recruited to play basketball there in late 70s. They were very cordial and proud of their college. Turned down the opportunity. Just wasn't my style of college.

All those methodist schools in the South have gone WAY LEFT. Bunch of dope. Lots of SJW BS. Education is nothing special anymore as they have reduced their standards for acceptance as diversity has become more important to them than education.
Very close friend with kid there for two years brought him home last year to finish at LSU and money was not the issue.
Name the "victim" class of your choice and it has more representation at Millsaps than at any other private school in the Mid-South.

Tuition is around 41k. They are Division 3 so no athletic scholarships. It better be one hell of a financial package.
