That's the problem. Too many people just want to play the blame game instead of communicating and working together constructively to create solutions.

Precisely. This thread is pretty telling in that regard. Positive people move the world, those that see obstacles everywhere usually fall victim to circumstances. Maybe that's why the career outlook is more bleak for some

At the same time, you cannot fix a problem until you know you have one. You cannot avoid tripping on something you don't know is there.

One must strive to see all of the obstacles in their path so that they may be circumvented or eliminated or else risk their dreams and aspirations go up in smoke like a blind man in a minefield.

Some see obstacles where others see opportunity. It's cliche, but true. People are either problem solvers or moved by circumstances.

The following is from Bureau of Labor:

quote:
The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $8.62, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $22.79. The median hourly wage for hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists was $11.38 in May 2015.

Its possible to make over 80K being a beautician. However, as others have said, anecdotal evidence does not mean much in bigger market.

If you are exceptional in certain fields, you will make alot more than the standard rate. However, usually making that kind of money comes from starting your own business or simply being in high demand-low supply location for your job.

^^^This guy gets it.

I know shes an outlier but my point was that should almost never happen in a properly functioning economy. In the old days you were lucky to get to go to college. Now everyone has a college degree. Todays college diploma is yesterdays high school diploma. The market is over-saturated. You make more money if you actually work. like do real work. HVAC technician, plumber, electrician, auto mechanic, hair dresser, etc.

No. My point is that this doesnt happen in a healthy economy. The next big bubble is the student loan bubble.

Boomers picked his major?

No. He has a good major. Biology. He had to go back to school to some kind of special program to get a bunch of other stuff too just to get a job. Like, 4 year biology degree wasnt enough just to earn $35K.

It is

I'd be all for stopping the loan program all together. If you can't pay for college or earn a scholarship then go to work

What those jobs have in common is that they can't be outsourced to India.

Fed loans, correct? Private companies could still invest in someone if they wanted.

I agree. College should be for the rich and/or bright.

I have a chemistry degree (paid for with pell grants and student loans, yes, I was poor) and work in a lab. It technically could be outsourced, but the turnaround time and costs really prevent it.

There are jobs where you get decent pay with a BS and a good work ethic.
