Gen X and millenials are dealing with the largest generation that is holding onto jobs to maintain their wealth/sense of purpose. The boomers decided to make a large profit off of everything. A majority of kids come out of college and society has turned them into indentured servants for 10-15 years unless mommy and daddy pay for it.

College was mostly not that big of a burden for most of GenX. I know my tuition wasn't really that expensive

I would say more that they need to realize it takes a few years to make comfortable money and stop expecting it just because they got a college degree and actually work hard towards that as a goal

C'mon man.

shite, some of the people born in the early 40's didn't even have electricity. My mom was one of them.

I have no clue where you folks get this idea that people coming of age in the 50's and 60's had it so easy.

What a crock of shite. We haven't had poverty in this country in years. You want to see poverty? Go spend some time in rural India or China. Or most of Africa.

We actually do have areas in the US that are in similar situations as 3rd world countries.

Alabama has worst poverty in developed world

white American poverty for those of you who deny it exists

Your mom should've worked harder or moved to a cheaper city.

She was like 4 years old, so.

It was fairly normal in much of the South. Most of you utes don't realize that you're a generation or two removed from massive poverty, which was the normal.

What amount of money do you consider middle class?

I would consider something in the 60-80k range middle class in most places.

You aren't ballin out every weekend, but in most cities you can make an ok living single. I do think the definition of a family making 80k as middle class is wrong. I don't think if you have a wife/husband and 2 kids 80k is anywhere near enough

Your first article has been blown apart so many times I'm not going to even bother with it. And it comes from the UN.

Your second article calls "poverty" what should be called "poor life decisions" and a massive opiod epidemic. And this one comes from a British news organization.

Try again.

Yes. In fact, our Federal Reserve has perpetuated our deficit spending. They could essentially clean out congress by continuing their rate hikes which would force them to reign in the spending because of how ridiculous the borrowing costs would be. It's this vicious cycle where the Fed can't normalize rates because of deficit spending (and too large of a burden on the gov't budget on interest payments and higher borrowing cost for new treasuries), and the Gov't wont reign in spending because of the low rate environment. So they both perpetuate each other's problems.

It's why I was such a fan of Powell and then Mnuchin's PPT team reversed the direction of MP in less than a few months.

From the article:

The caption reads: "Just a dream: younger generations are denied the opportunities some of their parents had."

Yeah No.

Mrs. Füt didn't sip champagne on a girls trip for her engagement.

We bought furniture.

Priorities, our parents had them, we have them, our kids have to have their own.

And keep out of jail

Get in a field with a future and have a great attitude.

Now get off my LAWN!
