How crazy are the sex noises, baw?
To answer OP’s question, I can’t stand loud shite that’s mixed poorly - commercials louder than the show, every actor talks like Bane from The Dark Knight Rises, music/effects too high in the mix, no frequency separation muddies things up.
Suck my dick and don’t come over to my house if you don’t like it, you illiterate pussy.

I’m a millennial and I hate it. I turn it off whenever it’s on my TV. The only thing I put them on for are SEC Shorts videos.

Because today’s movies and shows make the background noise and music so loud you can’t hear a fricking thing they say.
It’s better than boomers and gen x turning volume up to a million and acting like they like a movie because of the big colors and loud noises, in reality they have no idea what the plot is because they hear none of the dialogue.

I only do it if it’s a heavy British accent show or my kid is in the room making a ton of noise
So I am not the only one who has trouble hearing British accents? When I tell that to someone (if it comes up in conversation about certain shows, etc) I usually get a "really?" type response.

So, married with kids, that's 100% of the time, right?

I don’t know why but this post made me envision the South Park Imagination Land scene where Michael Bay is trying to explain plot.

We have them on usually Because we put the kids to bed at 7:30 and like to watch tv without commercials waking up the whole fricking neighborhood. Seriously you have to turn it up loud enough to hear the dialog then all of the sudden I'M BEING DEMANDED TO BUY FRUITS AND VEGGIES VITAMINS

I watch some British shows including Scottish ones. Throw in some french actors speaking English, and it becomes as required as subtitles for some of those accents.
I think I started doing it more for other TV due to Netflix and some other streaming services where too often several words of dialogue were completely unintelligible no matter how many times I rewatched.

My wife does this and it drives me crazy. I find myself reading the subtitles instead of watching the actual content on screen when I can hear it just fine.

This. Audio dialogue has gotten so bad in movies and TV now that it’s easier having the words up on screen.

Can someone please explain to me why millennials watch everything with the closed captioning on?
They can't hear anymore because you yell at clouds all day.
Posted on 10/2/23 at 9:01 pm to greygoose
I started doing it when I was first watching Peaky Blinders. Because it was 100% necessary. Now, unless I'm watching sports, I have to have it on.
Deal with it.
Deal with it.

I fricking hate the cc. One of the kids always has it on.

Sound in movies and videos hasn’t been optimized for speakers in computers, phones and iPads. It’s a known problem that sound engineers are trying to fix but no solution has worked perfectly so far. Dialogue and lower tones are especially difficult to hear clearly on those devices so many watch with cc on.

30 year old millennial here. I hate closed captioning, I find my focus is just on the words of its on.
My 27 year old wife prefers to have them on. I thought she was just weird, didn't know others did this.

quote:I think you hit on the ultimate problem. All the Zoomers/Millenials I know that turn on the CC, also watch 90% of their shite on their phone or a tablet. Now it makes sense. Me, on the other hand, never ever watches anything but a 15-30 second spot on a damn tiny screen. These frickers binge the whole GOT series on a damn phone!
