VANCOUVER — As the famous Village People song declares, “Every man wants to be a macho macho man / To have the kind of body, always in demand.” But are “macho macho” mindsets becoming a thing of the past? A new study finds that male millennials are drifting away from stereotypical masculine values. The research, led by the University of British Columbia, showed that younger men tend to value selflessness, social engagement, and health over traditional male ideals like physical strength and autonomy.

First off, why are these mutually exclusive?

Secondly, I love the fact there are so many girly men coming up through the ranks. Makes average joes like me look more manly

That song is a strange example to use For this story. Have the kind of body that's always in demand? Clearly they wanted that D. Maybe that’s what you consider macho.

If they value selflessness they should stop being pussies and help Make America Great Again. Grab a shovel boys. We’ve got a wall to build.

I didn’t write the study or the article. I just saw it linked on Drudge and posted it here because I know this is a favorite subject of the OT.

Of course, physique and independence were still prominent values for the 630 Canadian men aged 15 to 29

Most of the people surveyed aren't even millennials

I work with a few Buddy Holly glasses wearing millennials at the younger end of the generation - around 25-26. They are definitely kind of effeminate

It is kind of dumb that this term has become synonymous with young people in general. The youngest millennials are like 23.

Yup. Ha.

So we are to celebrate girly men, and macho/butch women. Switching one for another.

Today's societal norms are f'd up.

Because they were told it was bad for society by women, and women are always right and always honest.
