Even if you are trolling, you are still an idiot

received complaints about two men dressed in military attire carrying rifles on a levee on LSU's campus around 10:30 p.m.
Sounds like an idiotic thing to do, but man, this is just written so stupidly.
A levee?

Thanks for the one retort that actually made me laugh.

A. Carrying a firearm, or dangerous weapon as defined in R.S. 14:2, by a student or nonstudent on school property, at a school sponsored function,.....or within one thousand feet of any school campus.
The police officer went over this on my conceal carry class. If you have a conceal carry permit in LA you can carry within 1000 feet of school property but cannot carry on school property.
Article from August 2011
quote:
The LSA pointed out to the legislature that there were municipalities in the state where it was impossible to NOT be within 1,000 feet of a school campus. The legislature listened, and adjusted the law.
Now, a concealed carry permit holder MAY carry his firearm on his person, with his concealed permit license, within 1,000 feet of a school campus, as long as he does not enter the campus proper.
This corrects the weakness the LSA recognized in the law — that a concealed carry permit holder might easily be walking his dog, or get out of his vehicle to change a flat tire, and unknowingly be within 1,000 feet of a school campus.

He is legitimately one of the least intelligent posters on this website.. He's not trolling, he just can't discern reality from comic books

If you're going to "patrol" an area with weapons, you should probably learn where you can or can't go.
There's no fence on the walkway and no signs to tell one that they are suddenly on LSU's property. If they were up there, ignorance does not excuse it, but it makes it more understandable as there would have been no criminal intent.

Did you even read the second paragraph of the post you quoted?

Again, if you're going to play cops and robbers, you better know the fricking law. There's nothing more to add to that.

Pretty sure we are saying the same thing just using different words.

The thing here is he would have been thousands of feet from the nearest school building, but technically "on campus" because LSU owns a short stretch of the levee.

You did. He was just too eager to share his vast knowledge of LA statutes.
Posted on 5/8/15 at 12:40 pm to AbitaFan08
The police might have thwarted a major tragedy here.

1,000 feet from campus. Not just the closest building.

My oldest took a riflery and handgun course on campus his senior year.
How do they handle the range there?
There is an exception for that case.
C. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to:
(6) Any student carrying a firearm to or from a class, in which he is duly enrolled, that requires the use of the firearm in the class.

"Jumped the gun" on that one.
