Just ran across this cool video this morning. I never had the motivation to do what these guys do when I was in. They might only do 3-6 month deployments but between that and the TDY trips they are gone 9 months out of the year. Props to their families. These are the best of the best their commitment to exacting perfection is a sight to see.

Michael Durant was in that unit in the Panama campaign. He was the helicopter pilot captured by the Somalies in Blackhawk Down.

Yes I believe that is a fairly well known fact.

When I was at Ft Carson in 2009 one of their birds went down during training and my battalion got tagged to go up a secure the site. All four crew members were killed.

My son is headed to the 160th at the end of a June and will be flying with them.
He has orders to green platoon With a 29June arrival date. With a 2 day POV travel time his little siblings and I are going out to his current duty station and driving him over.
If it’s like the last time I dropped him off I will meet most of the guys he will be flying with. I’m pretty pumped.
They are the best of the best on rotary wing aircraft.

a guy from my hometown is a night stalker, was a seal then joined the Night stalkers. Strange cat, not to be messed with. His sister said he has been in some shite.

Is he a 15T/U or a pilot?

Tango with a later slot at WOCS and flight school. He wants to wait on WOCS.

I was never in the 160th, but I was in Aviation for 10 years. I would go to WOCS ASAP if it was me. I was on the conventional side and was a 64 guy. I know the 15Rs in my company got absolutely used and abuses not sure about 15Ts who are in a flight company.

When the 5th ID was here a bunch of the Aviation dudes used to come into my restaurant. Had a Hale and Farewell once and they showed a video of some of the aircraft they flew and some of the maneuvers they could do. Awesomeness. Every year for the Army/Navy game I would open up early. Most were West Pointers. By the end of the game they were shite faced. Good times.

He is only 19 and we talked about going now, he isn't mature enough or experienced enough to be in a position to lead even as a W1. If he is used and abused for a while it will be good for him.
His packet is ready so when he is ready he can drop his packet and get picked up. I spoke with a couple of connections I have on the selection boards and given his letters of recommendation he will get a slot when he drops his packet.

3:50 mark. You might be a badass if you’ve ever been piloting (or co-piloting) a Little Bird whilst slinging grenades with a launcher from your seat.

Never! Ever! Pass on WOCS. After 10 years in the infantry and 10 in aviation, you should do what needs to be done to sit in the front seat ASAP.
