The current Mike was obtained from a rescue habitat for exotic animals. I don't think anyone could complain about grabbing another rescued Tiger that will be treated like gold for the rest of its days.
You ignore the shortsightedness of bitches with hairy armpits.

LSU is just giving captive tigers a better life and not breeding them, I don't see how anyone could ever have an issue.
people get a lot of joy out of Mike the Tiger. he is a fabulous creature, with many wonderful qualities.
However, I can see the argument that if no one had any in captivity, there would not be young ones needing places. I doubt that will happen any time soon.
Mike's habitat and circumstances of life are pretty good as captive tigers go.
Reminds me of the novel Slaughterhouse V by Kurt Vonnegut.
Human protagonist was kept in a zoo on the planet Tralfamador.
The Tralfamodorians also kidnapped Montana Wildhack a porno star for the protagonist. The Tralfamodorians had observed the protagonist in a porno shop looking at a Montana Wildhack short film.

There are zoo's that have worse habitats that house tigers. If the Tiger was still in kept in the cage opposed to the new habitat then I doubt a new tiger would be replaced, but the resources and money that went into building the new habitat wasn't built with the possibility that one day they might not have a live mascot.
Southern use to have a jaguar right? If I recall, it was kept in a cage similar to what Mike use to be kept in. Does anyone know why Southern never got another live mascot?

This is more of a FYI than anything, but I was looking to see all schools that have live mascots. Of course most of them are dogs (mostly bulldogs). On this particular site, there are a top 25 ranking with Mike ranked #2... I would have never guessed #1. North Alabama has a pair of lions.

but with that palace built for a live mascot and as big of an attraction it is, I can't imagine LSU not getting another.
Add in the amount of damage done to the vet school years ago from peta (or peta type people) so I doubt lsu will cave into an extremist groups demands

The Vonnegut novel that you've described is Breakfast of Champions, NOT Slaughterhouse V.

Any chance we can get a Liger? They grow to be huge and they have to be kept in captivity. Has to be a few of them available. Plus they are very social and do well with crowds..

Will this be the last live mascot we have?

Wow, that blows. Hate to see animals or humans get cancer. I believe he has been at LSU for almost 10 years and has probably lived like a king, so if nothing else, he lived a great life. Still sucks.
