common courtesy would be to realize the guy you are tailgating is still passing people, and get off his arse.

If you have a chance to get over and don't, you're an a-hole. Just because they're also an a-hole doesn't change that.

Most of the time if I get over to let someone pass then don't stay at the speed I was even going. So I just stay in passing lane and continue to pass slower traffic. If I were to get over I would have to slow down to allow some tailgater to pass me slower than I was previously going.

This. They are both creating a dangerous situation.

But even at 80 mph if someone is trying to pass you, get the frick over.

Tempting to buy on old beater just to bumper car a-hole drivers.

The driver of the truck in that video, 100% a current or former LEO.

That was like a reverse PIT maneuver.

Looks like only a very small handful of states actually say the left lane is for passing only

I know for a fact there are signs along freeways and highways in Texas. It may not be a state law and only dictated in certain counties or along certain roads though

What really grinds my gears is when I'm headed West on I-10 into Texas and the speed limit drops from 75 to 65 when I go from Jefferson County into Chambers County. No fricking reason at all.

Yep, that sucks. Same thing on I-45 headed south when you hit the Montgomery County line near New Waverly and US59 at the Liberty County line near Cleveland

and for the most part, you drive 65 on those freeways headed into Houston, you gon die

I usually drive about 5 mph over the limit on long interstate drives. Sometimes, I'll see a line of cars/big rigs in the right lane going the speed limit so I'll move to the left lane to pass.

While I'm passing the line of cars, it may take a full minute or two to get to the front. Usually during that time, someone going 10-15 mph faster than me comes out of nowhere and starts tailgating.

I usually just go the same speed until I reach the front and then immediately move over. I don't really know what else to do but thinking many drivers would have a problem with my approach (i.e. expecting me to either speed up more or try to jam my car into the line in the right lane).

it's not different than what I said. If you're passing people in the right lane, then you are entitled to stay in the passing lane. Just because someone wants to pass at a faster, unsafe speed, doesn't make you king of the highway. I'm only going to get over in the right lane when there is a large enough gap that I don't have to slow back down. I'm not going to get over and go from 80-85 mph to 65-70 mph when I'm passing people, just because some douche has to go 100 mph to make it anywhere on time. I'll get over eventually when there is a gap, but not to hit my brakes and slow down by 15 mph.

Couldn't have said it better. When I feel I can get over without having to slow down cause a car in the right lane, I'll get over. Until then, you're stuck passing people at the excess rate I'm comfy with. When it's clear, I'll get out your way. Thought this was common practice

But the moronic rednecks tailgating me while that was occurring were probably worse. It's bad enough to do it to the car causing the hold up, doing it to the other people held up by the left lane dude is bizarre

Why intimidate one person when you can do it to many instead? Rednecks (and all forms of stupid people) take what they can get.

They tailgate you to get you out of the way so they can tailgate the guy slowing everyone down. It's not complicated.

I get out of their way. None of it is worth it.

why not speed up a little to pass quicker? I don't mean go 90, but if you can safely travel a little faster to get around the line of vehicles in the right lane, why not? It's only going to help the overall flow of traffic

As an 8-10mph over speed limit driver, I'd probably be a little annoyed. But I wouldn't tailgate you, and nobody should.
