Look, folks--the reason why LSU administrators can fall all over themselves in pandering to the unreasonable demands of black students and faculty is because (1) LSU administrators are comprised of left-wing adherents who are looking for an excuse to do what they want to do anyway, and (2) there is no counter-pressure on the administration from those with opposing viewpoints.
The way to hit LSU is in the pocketbook. How many of us are willing to forego our season football tickets to protest these irresponsible actions by LSU leaders? How many of you who donate money to the university are willing to say that you are no longer going to donate? How many of you are willing to write to your state representatives and senators and ask for legislation to bring LSU under control? LSU administrators need to be hit between the eyes in terms of funding, but that is not going to happen.

By the way, we are all focusing on the Middleton Library naming issue, but read the rest of the demands from black students to which Galligan agreed. This is a promise to practice racial discrimination in faculty hiring, student admissions, and student funding. LSU is falling all over itself before this agreement to set aside standards for hiring, admissions, and funding in order to diversify its ranks, and this agreement means that these efforts will intensify. Moreover, this is an implied promise to violate the First Amendment protections against free expression. Is a student going to be deemed as violating the Code of Student Conduct by taking a position against affirmative action? Are faculty members who express concerns over LSU's diversity fetish going to face action?
