It is a little short-sighted to celebrate this kind of stuff.

In 2023, apparently one has blue hair, can't change a tire and votes Democrat if they do the following:

Work in tech
Work for a defense contractor
Work for the federal government

The proper protocol is to run away from every state to FL, post on FB about changing their party registration and watch Fox News, which is bad, but Tucker is good

AI is terrible at bug checking.

Please bring back more QA/QC testers.

Microsoft is still sending me emails inviting me to apply for software development jobs. Google is too.

Local shipbuilding always hiring pipe fitters and welders. Community college degree a fraction of the cost and time as those tech degrees they just got put out on the street with.

I wish AI would replace some of the people I have to work with.

guess "learn to code" doesn't work in this instance?

Any tard can learn to code, someone has to tell them what to code. Your massive foreign "developer" base is what is getting cut. Problem solving IT folks aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

If the people that know what they are doing have to architect the solution, document the solution, answer all questions about the solution might as well just ship the shite offshore for $32 an hour to code it.

I’m not going to celebrate the loss of livelihood of anyone that isn’t a politician, banker, or journalist, but it’s obvious from the recent tech labor crunch that there were a lot of unnecessary jobs that existed in that industry.

And a high proportion of them were tasked with promoting a political agenda. Which makes them, by extension, politicians.

Not my experience. These people are extremely hard to hire.

Overstated as well. A developer who knows a given system can work directly with end users to develop software.

You say this like it's a bad thing that economic output will eventually not be dependent on human labor

It is when ennui sets in on an even larger part of the population.

But, your statement that we are progressing towards a life of abundance that removes human capital is so quick to ignore the strain for human capital that has existed for the last three years.

It’s the same type of person that believes in Malthusian sun monster theories. So absurd it’s hard to imagine being that arrogant.

The irony is no one worth their salt being laid off at FAANG will be going hungry for long.

Hell, most are leaving with 4 month full salary severance packages and robust stock options they can cash in. And any SE/NSE/IT/DS worth their salt(and plenty that aren’t) will have recruiters DMing their Linkdn before they get their box loaded up into the car.

Can’t wait for the first major disaster with deaths associated from an AI code that had an error in it that was not caught. You know it is coming.

People that know how to code with FAANG or MSFT on their resume are going to be amongst the most sought after people in the tech jobs market.

The people that will likely be having to stretch that severence package will be your HR, PR, recruiter, sales, support staff.

This is a terrible take. Sales, recruiters are at an all time high.

No one needs a bunch of IT introverts behind computers doing nothing.

Maybe, but it seems like it's the opposite. They fire "expensive" citizens and keep the 50 cents on the dollar H1-B folks, and encourage them to ask their friends to apply.

Alpharetta, GA, has become Little India in under 10 years. It's outrageous the sheer number of imports companies have been allowed to bring in. I feel sorry for kids in school now for anything tech-related.

Sales in tech have nothing to sell without the software/hardware, and recruiters have little purpose in a tech firm if a tech firm is not developing or maintaining desirable tech. And when tech companies hire based on a certain growth forecast, and then need to make cuts, it’s not the critical engineers that get rounded up first, it’s periphery support and periphery people in non-critical roles and department that got over hired that go first.

It’s not salespeople and recruiters that will be developing Google’s pivot to AI investment, it’s SE’s. And if you don’t plan to be on a hiring spree for the moment, you don’t need to load up on recruiters

Yeah, when economies are booming, but when companies are on hiring freezes and forecasting slower growth, sales and recruitment slow with it
