“One girl was going to buy a notebook. There was one left. Some pushing resulted,” Det. Baetens said. “They began to argue who was the rightful purchaser of that notebook.”

The confrontation escalated into what the police called “physical violence” between the two pairs of women over the apparent notebook scarcity. In the video, we can see the 20-year-old woman on her knees as the two other women seem to be pulling her hair.

That’s when the 51-year-old reached into her purse and pulled out the pistol, which police say was loaded.

However, police also said the woman was legally allowed to be carrying the firearm, which was registered in her name.

“She’s a valid CPL (Concealed Pistol License) holder,” Baetens said. “She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them.”

Thankfully, the firearm was not discharged and the confrontation was broken up shortly thereafter. Nobody was injured in the brawl, and police did not place anyone under arrest at the time.

However, Baetens says prosecutors are still considering charges against all four women.

Should read "Woman protects daughter using proper gun technique and restraint to deter and de-escalate situation.

Some idiots would have just shot.

Absolutely not. You don't point a gun at anything you do not intend to kill.

they were all acting stupid, daughter was in the middle of it. there's no way to tell who started it and who was at fault. the daughter was clearly not in danger of her life nor being "attacked." gun puller should be booked and charged, and her license taken away. she said, she said, she said.

Because she didn't. She was using the gun as a threat.

this is not exactly sound logic mon frere.

just because someone doesn't pull the trigger doesn't mean they aren't prepared to or willing to

It's a good thing the police don't think this. Had you said "prepared to kill" I would agree with you.

A gun is the last resort and should not be used to threaten someone. If you point a gun at someone you should have the intent to pull the trigger. This was not her intention. She was using it in a threatening manner to get what she wanted out of the situation. I'm not saying what she did is illegal however what she did should have been her last resort I have to kill someone and this certainly was not a "last resort" situation.

Killing is a last resort.

Pulling a gun is a great way to deter someone so you don't have to kill them.

This ain't quick draw McGraw time.

did you see any blood? punches or kicks being thrown? no, daughter got caught up wrestling over the notebook and was losing the battle. their intent was not focused upon the daughter, but the notebook. this is pretty clear from the short video if you're not trying to see what you want to.
