He answered where the locations of the shootings were. He answered that the president had been briefed and was returning to campus. He confirmed that the perp matched the pics and description they gave earlier. He confirmed the shelter-in-place order had been lifted. He confirmed that they hadn't received any prior threats to campus.
Some of y'all are being too harsh on this campus cop. Most of these press conferences rarely offer many immediate details anyway, and he's getting asked stupid questions about motive when he already said they had yet to even identify the suspect.

After the cop on scene clearly said he texted in the perp's ID.
I mean I get they are not going to release the name of the guy immediately, but he used the same "We are identifying" excuse when it came to the injured students.
Just say you are not releasing their names at this time as families need to be contacted and such. You know, the truth.
They don't operate that way though. Obfuscation is their normal mode of operation.

Meh, again he's a deputy sheriff on a college campus who's answering questions on the fly maybe 20-30 minutes after the suspect killed himself. Frankly, I'm surprised they even opted to take questions there.
The point of that update was to let everyone know that the suspect was dead and the threat was over. It's not like the dastardly MSU PD was consciously scheming to muddle information just because that's what you think they do.

Gunman was a 43 year old black male with no apparent ties to the University. No motive at this time.

Really odd that some middle aged guy would just go shoot up a college campus. I'd have expected it to be a student/former student/employee etc.

27* right now in Lansing, can’t believe this guy was just walking down the street with only a jean jacket. I’m assuming he had no real plans of escape after the shooting.
In relation to the police and plain clothes, seems like if they are going to respond to a situation with anything but their pistol that they should work on also having large print jackets/ vests with them? Easy enough to carry something like that next to your AR case?
