Which is mind-boggling

I just think two things can be true at the same time… that Michael Oher is a POS… and that he probably got screwed over and is due some compensation.

I’m not shedding a tear for Michael, he sucks as a human… but the Tuohys may very well be bigger pieces of shite.

“If you’re good enough, they will find you” apparently doesn’t apply to Michael Oher for some reason. Weird.

He’s not broke… he’s a married father of 3 who lives in Brentwood TN, one of the wealthiest zip codes in the southeast.

I read that he has 4 kids with his former girlfriend of 17 years who he married last November.

It's disappointing if he's a jerk.

These are the lengths Ole Miss has to go in order to compete in the SEC.

he should be able to profit off his story being used for the movie.
I question that. Why?

If I were to write an autobiography about Chicken, he might not like it, but I wouldn't owe him anything.

Please explain why a movie about him should owe him anything? Was he a creative consultant? Did he have a royalties contract?

Dude has a net worth over $20 million. He stated from the start that the movie was 70% bullshite and made him come off like some retard and was mostly false and embarrassing.

Name, image, and likeness. You don't have the right to profit off of someone else's without their consent. Pretty basic stuff.

During nine seasons in the league, Oher had a total earnings of $34.5m, per Spotrac. Back in 2015, however, the now 37-year-old blamed the movie for his less-than-stellar career.

'People look at me, and they take things away from me because of a movie. They don’t really see the skills and the kind of player I am. That’s why I get downgraded so much, because of something off the field.

'This stuff, calling me a bust, people saying if I can play or not... that has nothing to do with football. It’s something else off the field. That’s why I don’t like that movie.'

He's working an angle. Setting up for damages in case the conservatorship line doesn't prove anything of value was stolen.

Being that the family was already wealthy, I'm not sure how taking him off the street and providing him a path to college and NFL was all some big ploy to rob him of movie proceeds. Just doesn't add up for me.

Clearly not and the family did. I don't know why he didn't have his agent or legal counsel involved when this was all going down? He was in the NFL at that point and had the wherewithal to do so.

Because the Tuohys set him up with an agent that was a family friend of theirs.

An ex NFL player lives down the street from my parents. He had to play a lot longer than he wanted to because he was one of many pro athletes scammed by a crooked financial advisor. He was a career journeyman player so he never had a huge contract and I think it was touch and go for a while until his pension kicked in.

The subtext to this is he THOUGHT he was adopted which would make him a legal child and thus able to inherit money from the Tuohys who are fairly wealthy apparently - Taco Bell’s and all. But he’s not family and he ain’t getting a damn tostada without paying for it. So he’s probably pretty pissed that the Tuohys made a lot of money of him but he isn’t getting anything from them.

There are straightforward legal issues at play here but people seem to be missing them.

Being an adopted child or not does give him any specific right to the Touhy estate, so I don’t see a reason he’s be motivated by that.

Second, a conservator has a fiduciary responsibility to the conservatee. The Touhy’s will be required to account for funds under that relationship.

sucks for him that he was in a conservatorship that provided him the opportunities to play almost a decade in the NFL instead of getting beat by his crackhead mother's boyfriends, I guess.

That's what I read as well and the lawyer was the same one who drafted the conservatorship
papers.

So that means he should be cool that his "brother" and "sister" are getting royalty checks but he isn't?

He had an agent for his football and business negotiations right? Is it the same agent?
