Does anyone have a clue as to what these guys are doing towing used vehicles down I-10?

They are headed to I-35 and from there to Nuevo Laredo. There is a 20 mile stretch of road south of Nuevo Laredo to their Migracion inspection station. On that stretch of road, there are literally hundreds of auto salvage and repair shops, called Jonkys. That's where they are taking them, either to fix them up or sell them for spare parts.

They have groupings of law enforcement Tahoes all over I-40 that are there just to pull over those folks I think. I have flown by them going 90 MPH dozens of times and they haven't flinched, but I always see them behind pulled over Mexicans towing vehicles

Wow, I've never seen one pulled over, although many of their "loads" seem incredibly unstable and illegal. I always try to pass them as quickly as possible in case something breaks loose.

Exactly, they are the new working class of America. They're doing the jobs no one else wants, and making a living doing it.
We're the melting pot - The Irish, Vietnamese, Italians, Polish, Chinese, etc. all did those crap jobs in the past and worked their way up. The American dream.

this - also, old school buses are tops of their list - no regulation on bus service - get a old school bus clunker and load it up pass the 47 maximum limit and charge from one little town to the next - big profit.

They can fix about anything and when I had a cleanup business after Katrina the mexicans were the hardest working folks I ever saw. I would hire them over anyone else in a minute. they can be a scary folk though. They don't fight to the knock out, they learn to fight to the death... So theres that

I would like to thank the Mexican Freight trains for showing me that a 1986 Plymouth voyager can tow 2 other voyagers and an aircraft carrier...

We traded in my old Sienna a few years ago because the steering was going out on it. It still ran good though. Anytime we see a similar van on the road, my kids wonder if it's mine. My husband just tells them "Mom's van probably took a trip to Mexico towing 2 other vehicles--it is long gone!"

Its because Mexico taxes the shite out of new vehicles. But any vehicle over ten years old avoids the tax. So they fix up used ones here and bring them back to either use or sell.

They buy cheap cars at dealer auctions like Manheim and Adesa and haul em back to Mexico for profit.
