Probably we're starting to understand that it's not good for mental health.

No we aren't.

We're understanding it's not good for a small number of people's health so as usual we have to rearrange all social and cultural norms to accommodate.

OP definitely has some mental problems.

Also

What happened to the grin and bear it mentality?

This actually used to be "grin and drown it with alcohol" mentality, and we are finding better ways to cope, address and move forward with issues like anxiety - which can be very, very difficult for many people to handle.

Yea, I'd say mental illness should not be used as a catch all, because true mental illness is quite real and can be a very scary ordeal. It's a difficult thing to understand if you've never experienced it yourself. It's often not just choosing to feel like shite, but an imbalance of neurotransmitters that is out of your own control. Sometimes it's not physiologically possible to just snap out of it.

Well, all women have mental issues. Just not all of them use them as an excuse for bad behavior.

That’s like saying being paralyzed is stupid just because some people fake the condition or abuse benefits.

On a different level, I don't believe pleading insanity should be a valid excuse for a murderer to avoid the ultimate penalty. The defense can always find someone willing to crown their client as being crazy. The fact that they're rotten as hell should trump everything else.

Same goes for "having a low IQ". They tried to pull that BS with Derrick Todd Lee.

You’re here melting because a tennis player decided to withdraw herself from a tournament she entered herself. All of which presumably has no effect on you or your life.

Who is soft?

Why are post event interviews a thing? All they do the whole time if you lost is ask you how or why you lost? I remember after my sporting events I wouldn't even talk to my parents lol.
Seems stupid to me, I'd get fined all the time for cursing out a reporter lol.

Why didn't you go with either of these options before creating the OP?

Should have just grin and beared your frustrations and been stoic about them.

But here you are.
