The Peabody - right across from the Rendezvous.

If you want a great steak, try Folks Folly Steakhouse (outside of downtown, but worth the drive.

Great zoo there too.

yea, The Memphis Zoo is as nice as any zoo in the country.

The Brooks Art Gallery is also in Overton Park.

The Overton (Levitt) Park Shell hasn't released their spring concert schedule yet, but they are free, family friendly, bring your own ice chest and some of the acts are pretty amazing for free.

I'd stay at The Madison and have drinks at The Peabody.

Don't go to Beale Street, go to Main Street downtown.

oh yea, and try not to get shot as many of the mouth breathers that are posting from the safe confines of new orleans and baton rouge have suggested.

Butthurt much? Pretty sure they were just messing around....But, I have had a gun pulled on me by some TPOS in downtown Memphis.

To the OP, if you're on Beale, go home before 2. You might be the only Republican on Beale around that time.

The Westin is across from Gibson and adjacent to Beale. I don't know much about that Hampton but it's hard to beat that location as well.

Ok, Crowne Plaza is out from what I hear here. Westin on Beale is only $218 a night. Is it close enough to everything? Looks pretty nice online.

I have no problem with the Peabody or Madison costing more, but they look older and not sure about the amenities. Nice is important to a degree but location to other stuff is more important to us on this trip.

Westin is a great hotel, try to get a room facing Beale.

I'm out on the town more than most and so far I've been stabbed zero times.

I guess you have to be from Minden like Cosmo in order to joke around.

I'd stay at the Peabody as others have suggested. Very cool old hotel. The zoo is on par with the best in the country, seriously.

I'm not an Elvis fan and really didn't want to go to Graceland last year but I did and really enjoyed it. It was absolutely amazing and how much he had done.

Restaurant Iris is probably my favorite in the city. Their surf and turf is amazing. Kelly English is the chef. He trained under John Besh. He was Food & Wine Magazine's 2009 “Best New Chef”.

Also Gus's fried chicken is probably the best you will ever eat. Not kidding at all.

If you go to a Redbird's game and I highly recommend it get the BBQ nacho's or the Sausage and cheese plate.

the actual bricks on the outside of the building are old, but other than that it's the 2nd best hotel in the city.

believe it or not, the hotel on mud island is the nicest.

i'm wondering what is going to happen if he heeds that one fella's advice to avoid Beale but go to Main St. He'll either get to The Orpheum or The Majestic and have to stop.

The Pyramid is a must-see too.

ETA: This fella needs to check into The Madison on Friday and eat at Iris that night. Needs to take his lady friend to the zoo Sat morning and then hit up Gus' for lunch before retiring to a watering hole and getting primed up for a Redbirds game. catch dinner somewhere downtown after the game and then to Beale early. Afterwards, hit up E&H's or some such late-night place. Then BBQ brunch somewhere on Sunday. Work in stops at The Peabody etc along the way. Could be a pip.
