Without reading any of the comments on this, I am sure my opinion will be "wrong" (only on this board can an opinion be wrong), but I heard them talking about it on the news the other day and about how horrible and disgusting it was.
I'll be honest, it wasn't at all as bad as I thought. I did fast forward through the videos since they were long, but I went back to see what happened a minute or so at certain stopping points.
I am not saying the police handled it perfectly, but think about this. Take a group of people.. 3 or 4 people and someone passes by and does something.. Let's say they pushed over a woman for no reason, she falls... Whatever so you are the others confront the dude. The dude pushes one of you and takes off running, what is going to happen? More than likely yall take off running after him and if yall catch him, the group will probably whip his arse more than they were going to do at first. Anyone disagree with this?
Yeah they went overboard, emotions take over and people do shite that isn't excusable, but the second he took off running he was fricked.
And you read these articles and it pretty much says "man dies 3 days after confrontation with police after being pulled over for traffic violation".
From the moment the police confront a person until the situation is over, there is something that leads to how things evolve. Whether the cops overreacted or the person they stopped did something to cause the police to act the way they did, there is a story in the middle, but "man dies 3 days after confrontation with police after being pulled over for traffic violation" leaves it wide open for assumptions. That's either lazy reporting or reporting to fit a narrative.
Those officers can't say that they were wrongfully fired because they were black and that because of the perception of how police treat black people, the department only fired them because it was caught on bodycam and that before there were bodycams there were police who do a lot worse who didn't get fired because no one seen it?
Im just throwing out a defense they could use. I understand why they were fired.

Has Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson made it to Memphis yet?

I think what’s being done is what’s supposed to be done. The 5 officers were arrested and charged with murder. That’s what’s supposed to happen in this situation. We’re never going to eliminate people doing bad things to other people. That’s why we have the justice system

would go to his mom's house at 7 and eat dinner. he was stopped 100 yards from his parents house.
And he was yelling out for his mom while those thugs were beating him too. Close enough that in his panic his brain was probably telling him there was a chance he might be able to get her attention. frick, man

Never defended the cops, not defending the perp and definitely not expending the energy some of you are pretending like you’re going to do something to change policing and society as a whole. You’ll do nothing and continue to bitch
And you'll continue to be the racist bigot you are. With absolutely NO evidence, you are already assuming he's a criminal that deserved it.

Officer in video 3 sounds like he needed to do some cardio. Should have plenty of time for that in prison.
Unreal 5 cops couldn’t subdue this guy

I agree, but these posters in here acting as if they are crusaders for change are doing frickall

It makes no sense. The officers said he had superhuman strength like he was high. Whether he was higher than a kite and drunker than cooter brown. That beat down was wrong.
He probably wasn’t all there to begin with and could have been having some sort of psychotic break.
If the cops weren’t complete morons they might have recognized that

Go back to the PT. This is way too much for you.

Does it matter if I have a criminal record or not if I willingly run from and resist arrest. The cops can be pieces of shite and guilty AND the kid should’ve never ran and resisted. Both can be true. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. As far as the brutality of it, maybe most people have become so numb to the chaos and violence in this country. Maybe people are tired of everything being a political issue. I sure as frick am. And when you get cons like Supersaint talking about his community, that’s icing on the cake. No fricks given about killing each other, but when a cop is involved watch out.
What? I asked you a simple question, that I was genuinely curious about…

What was his criminal record?
Did he have one?

Look at you, so quickly reverting to your tactics of calling someone a racist bigot when they disagree with you. What did I say that makes me a racist bigot?
I don’t see color like you do. I don’t have a racist bone in my body. I see situations as they are without being clouded by emotions, but clearly you know me

How can this be?

2 Shelby Co officers who showed up on the scene at the end have now been suspended and are under investigation

Was the 2nd video street surveillance only or is there body cam footage of that as well.
Did they turn them off during the beating??

The street light footage is the worst. The guy could barely stand and the cops were holding him while the one cop punched him as hard as he could in the face several times. They are pretty fricked.
