Houston has 3 loops.
Wow. For a city with a population bigger than the entire state of Louisiana. Go figure.

I never realized how similar Memphis and BR are situated geographically. We suck.
Yes but if you look closely at the Memphis map their main hwys run North, South, East, and West with some semblance of uniformity.
Look at Baton Rouge there is a neighborhood here, shopping center there. Roads have 4 different names. There are 15 lights between the interstate and 1/4 mile.
Our infrastructure is abysmal.

They have. In Shreveport.
It's amazing that it was Shreveport/Bossier City that was forward-thinking all those years ago.

The entire I-10 / I -12 corridor is abysmal. I-12 should be at a minimum 3 lanes from Slidell to College Dr. There should be a loop starting just east of Walker and crossing the Mississippi at just north of Plaquemine . It will happen one day....when it will then be obsolete at the end of construction

I-55 looks kind of dumb. To stay northbound to cross the river you have to go through a cloverleaf. To stay southbound after crossing into Tennessee there's only one lane.

What's funy is that Memphis doesn't really need it. Traffic isn't half as bad there as New Orleans, Baton Rouge, ATL, Houston, etc.
And there is 0 growth.
And there is 0 growth.

Less red tape to cut through and they were probably just going through farmland in the 50's.
Peter it's where I'm from and part of our land was actually emminent domaine'd from us to be used for it, I can assure you that at least 90% of it WAS farm land

Politicians in Mississippi had to buy a bunch of land near all the future freeway exits first. That takes time.
If anyone is interested in my much taxpayer time and money was wasted in this venture I'll be glad to share, they took 200 acres from us
Otherwise I'll keep it to myself

Wouldn't it be cool if Louisiana could do what Mississippi and Tennessee has here?
Sure, but I've heard Highway 90 is a future I-49 corridor!

You need to calm down.

I want oreos but I don't have oreos

You need to make some groceries.

have no idea how they can be that slow but somehow they were able to build them far more quickly in the 50s.
The government built them in the 50's.
Private companies drag shite out to maximize profit.
Biggest reason why Louisiana passed a law stating if you couldn't get the job done within the timeframe quoted, you had to payback all funds given to you.

They're constructing a new stack interchange there.
