I have a family member going through the beginning memory failure after a battle with cancer.

I'm looking for anything that could slow the process down or reverse it to any degree

eat fair amount of fish food or really anything with omega 3
Fish oil pills are great for preventing seizures.

Take them to a dr & have them tested
Dr may prescribe something or recommend something

Or give them things to keep their mind working, books, puzzles, crossword puzzles

Doing crossword puzzles is supposed to help with brain function and (according to some) stave off Alzheimer's

There are apps the 'exercise' the brain with memory games. Not sure how effective they are though.

Stay away from the "easy" ones. Go for the hard ones that really make you think. Logic problems are good for the mind also.

Not popular, but there are studies being done that say LSD helps reverse these type of things. Reconnects the synapses, etc. Yeah, I am not saying dose with your elderly relative with mind-altering drugs, just had a conversation about it today and found it interesting.

Google "chemo brain." It's a definite thing.

Definitely take them to the doctor.

Aside from that, my best advice is to learn how to deal with it in a kind, compassionate way. Don’t correct them and never chastise them when they struggle. Engage them in lost of conversations and talk about things from their past. They will have much better recall of older memories.

While my father was declining badly, I had a very good nurse tell me that it’s to get aboard their boat and row with them. She was so right in what she said.

I mean I remember stuff pretty good now.
Can’t hear any more for some reason.
